Ngee Ann Tapestry 3

I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!:D

Ngee Ann Tapestry 3 yesterday! :D NAS Band rocked the hall! :D It was at Singapore Conference Hall. I didn't know Darryl took the same bus as me. I saw no blue uniform at the bus stop so I thought he wasn't there. Only until he walked past me, I happened to look up and saw him. He was wearing the Band uniform.

I waited for Jaslyn and Xue Qi to arrive at school, they were late. Then Cliff came and asked us to help, so we went to help. We were outside the Band room doing nothing because we didn't know how to move the instruments. Then Cliff asked us to follow him. He went to somewhere like a store room and tried to open the door but it was locked. Then he told us to wait there and went somewhere. Then someone came and unlocked the door to take something and left the door open but we didn't go in. Xue Qi and I looked at each other and laughed. Cliff came and said" Sorry sorry, come...why's the door opened?" Then Xue Qi said" Just now 1 girl come and open the door." Then we laughed again and Cliff asked us to go in and he walked there. None of us moved then he was like "Come!..." We took chairs for the seniors and moved them to the M-Learning Room. Someone told us to leave our shoes outside so we did that. Xue Qi and Jaslyn chose a spot at the end of all the shoes so I also put mine there. I told them those at that area were my seniors' shoes because I saw most of the black shoes there. True enough it was theirs. Xue Qi said" You clever..." haha!

Mr Yeo gave us a lecture on how we got ready for about 30min. Then Ms Ong came in and said the lorry was here. So he quickly ended his lecture and they did Low Chromatic Notes for warm up and practiced Silvercrest and Blue Ridge Saga once. Then Mdm Julinda gave the band lollipop! It's colourful. Some people got the round one, some (including me) got the twisted one. It's not very big but it's the biggest one I ever got.

Then we left the room and boarded the bus. Actually Ms Ong said the brass players follow the seniors(who were there going to the bus, all were brass players) then she saw that Xue Qi was the only woodwind player and let all the juniors board the bus for brass players. I sat with her in the bus. They carried their instruments with them in the bus without the case! I thought Bands put their instruments in a lorry which transports them to the performance place.

So the bus headed for SCH. And during the bus journey, teacher said everyone should be seated. Then some people turned behind to look so I followed suit. Kevin was the one standing. He was holding the 2 bars on the ceiling of the bus and bending over the row on the other side to see something. Looks kind of funny haha, I went" What's my senior doing???" Haha! We passed by the Singapore Flyer. We reached SCH 30min after leaving school. When we went in I told Xue Qi "So this is what we''ll be doing when we join Main Band..." I can't wait to join Main Band! Participating in concerts and competitions and feeling nervous... How nice :) We couldn't go in to the hall yet so we sat on the floor next to the stairs leading there. My seniors looked so cool in the Band uniform! :D Kevin was leaning against the door which lead to outside(Nothing outside) then the door opened, haha. So we sat there and waited until we could go in.

We went in to where the audience sit and just sat there. I took a picture of my seniors! :D It was cold there and I told Xue Qi the seniors can wear the blazer if they feel cold. And that was exactly what Kevin did :D He wore it the other way round, haha. Then we went to the practice room through a door by at the side of the stage. When we went in, 2 seniors were standing there, each on 1 side saying" Hello! Welcome to Singapore!..." and bowing, hahaha!

The juniors had to stay in 1 corner of the practice room because we were helpers. Then we had to help put all the seniors' bags in that corner. There happened to have space beside my bag so I had to put Darryl's bag there-right beside mine. Then someone took Kevin's file and blazer which were put together and put it in the corner. Then I went" That's my senior's blazer!..." I knew he wanted it from his actions when that idiot took it. Then that idiot kept saying never mind. How can he play without the file? Then Darryl said pass the file and blazer then that idiot told me that as if I couldn't hear it and he was the one who took it. So I took it back. We were constantly being called out to help, sometimes when no help was needed and we just went back. I didn't have a chance to record the seniors playing. At first they combined but later they just practiced on their own.

After their rehearsal on stage, we went on the stage to help take the stands and chairs and the percussion instruments. The Timpani was pushing against the snare drum and it dropped-.- Then we went back to the practice room and I just kept looking at my seniors practice. Samuel is quite tall but Cai Yan said he's quite short. He brought his PSP! Kevin is unfair. He doesn't even talk to me yet he lent his handphone to another girl junior when she asked him to lend-.- so sad. I'm jealous! ):<

The Chinese Orchestra was beside us. And while everyone was practicing on their own, BM wanted Band to combine. He said their mission was to be louder than CO. So they played Silvercrest first as usual and sure they were loud! :D Just as I told Xue Qi when the CO went into the practice room, the Band would blast them when they are practicing! :D I wanted to take pictures but didn't. I also wanted to record them playing but didn't have any chance. Some Clarinet seniors and a Saxophone senior kept playing the Elmo song haha! Some Sec 4s came and gave them some gifts like glow, sticks and flowers. Cai Yan gave my seniors flowers which is quite girlish. She also gave me 2 chocolates :D

Then they performed on stage-the first item. We were backstage watching their performance from a TV inside. Then when they finished, we helped with the chairs and instruments. The Trumpet junior dropped the cymbal-.- Then we went back to the holding room and DM or BM asked whether they wanted to do 3 cheers. They went "No..." but Cliff still went on with it. He said wanted to do 4 cheers then decided to do 5 cheers instead. So we did 5 cheers. He shouted until his throat hurt haha. "5 cheers and 5 cheers and 5 cheers for NAS Band" then we shouted hurray. They said they didn't want to but still shouted so loudly :D We left soon after. While walking down the stairs when we were leaving, my mother called and I was talking and I almost fell. Missed a few steps and my shoulder hurt. This time Xue Qi couldn't take the same bus as us. I sat with Jaslyn and when we passed the Singapore Flyer, there was light. Jaslyn and I tried to take pictures but it didn't look like anything. Jaslyn tried talking a few pictures in the bus. That's all I think. Bye!

Band practice

I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!:D

Band practice today! :D We left our instruments at the detention corner and went to the canteen to play because a senior asked us to. There were 2 groups- 1 and 2. Each formed a circle and I wasn't in the same group as Kevin. I was in group 1. My group just introduced themselves by telling everyone their names and section. Then we watched group 2 play. And since group 2 wasn't doing anything, the DM or BM (I forgot which) asked the 2 groups to merge and play whacko with a ball instead of a stick. It's more fun with a ball :D We had to sit one girl one boy and DM or BM asked Sheng Hao (Tuba) to sit between me and Jaslyn. So they played whacko then later there was once where Assiddiq and Sheng Hao kept calling each other like" Assiddiq! Sheng Hao! Assiddiq! Sheng Hao!..." Then Assiddiq said" Rebecca!" Then the person with the ball I think is Benedict was like looking around asking who and where because he doesn't know me. Then Assiddiq said" The girl beside Sheng Hao." but there are 2 girls beside him so I just called Jaslyn, also a girl beside him haha! But he threw the ball at someone else. ??? Then later someone threw the ball at Sheng Hao too hard then went out of the circle and that girl sat beside me. After the game, we went back to our groups and Kevin threw the ball at the dustbin very hard haha. Then I said" Is that why the dustbin is dented?" haha! When we went back to our groups we moved to the basket ball court to play captain's ball. The juniors didn't play. Mostly playing were the guys then DM or BM said" We're not a boy band. So can you let the girls play?" haha, boy band sounds like those rock bands.

Kevin is so cool! When the game started DM asked "Who want to jump ball?" He immediately raised his hand haha. He's the tallest guy in Band and the tallest person in Band! :D The girl was Cai Yan I think. Both from Trombone Section :D He was very active in the game. Then he suddenly changed team and went to my team! :D But I wasn't playing because I'm not good at games like this:( Then he wanted to throw the ball at the person standing on the bench. The person standing on the bench is just below the basketball net. Kevin threw the ball into the net and it went round and round the ring before dropping in! That's so cool! Then also there's another time he wanted to block the ball from that person he just stood there and raised his hand and he got the ball! We were standing there watching them play when Cliff came and us asked if we prefer games where we move or games where we don't move. Then I said games where we need not move haha. Cai Yan came then we and some other girls went to the canteen and played Chucky- Cai Yan's idea. Some people didn't know how to play. I thought everyone knew that game. She said" You're my junior so you sit beside me." haha! Then I told her" Cheng Heng very cool right?" Then she just smile.

So that's what we played. Sometime when we play half way there'll be only 1 gun left. Then another time there were 5 guns! Haha! Cai Yan said we start with 2 guns then she'll slowly increase the number, but that didn't happen. After playing for a while we stopped and I asked her a lot of questions and talk to her a lot.
Me: That time you say Darryl say I never talk is you ask him ah?
She said Kevin told her that they like ignore me, never talk to me like that. Then she went to ask Darryl he said I never talk. He ask me questions I reply very short. Then I told her that they never talk to me so I never talk to them also. And he only talk to me like"Can you play louder? Do you know how to play this note?" like that only. Then I also asked why they never talk to me. She said because I'm a girl then the 3 of them are boys so...they like haven't grow up yet. Haha! I asked her if Kevin know my name. She said she thinks so then I said he never say my name. Which reminded me of Trombone outing. So I asked her if she went and where. They went to Tampines Mall to eat dinner only because not all the seniors could go. Then I asked her Trombone section got how many seniors and she started listing them by name. Then when I heard one starting with J, I asked her what's the name she said because that alumni's name starts with J. She said Jezer then I was like what? How to spell? Haha, if she didn't spell it I wouldn't have known. Yes so that's his name.

Then Yi Hui suddenly joined us and sat with her. Then they started playing Chucky again. I thought they were just playing 2 people then Cai Yan pass to me. So I played with them, very fast because there was only 3 people. Then Cai Yan asked everyone to join in then we started playing again. Ms Leong came when we played half way but we continued. Then when we stopped I just talk to her again. I asked if all the Trombone seniors are very tall then she said yes. Then I said I very short right? She say Samuel also quite short. I asked her "Darryl Sec 1 that time shorter than me now right?" Then Yi Hui said" Darryl ah? You stand up....(So I stood up)...About there la." Then I replied" He Sec 1 about here then now he should be taller right?" Hehe. Yi Hui asked how tall is he now, I said I don't know. Haha. Then was break, the juniors went back to the area at the Band Room. For the first time I don't want to go back.

After break we went to M-Learning Room. Some seniors went in too, before we did. Then we heard DM or BM shouting" Get out!" then DM threw 2 pairs of shoes out and came out and sprayed Air Wick inside haha. Then DM or BM asked us to go in. When we went in a senior who had his shoes sprayed took a shoe and smelled it haha! We practiced Montego Bay and Frere Jacques. Then we did our duets but now she wants me to do a quartet on the same song. I don't want to. Xue Ying( Percussion) also asked me to do her solo with her. She wants me and Xuan Lin to do her solo with her but I think 1 person's enough. It's a sole so she should be playing alone but because her instrument has no tune, Ms Leong asked her to play with someone.

I had NAPFA test today during PE. This morning I almost forgot there was PE. I already changed into school unifrom when I remembered. PE was the first lesson. We have a new teacher, Mr Tan, but Mr Ong is still our teacher. Mr Tan took index numbers 1-10 while the rest(including me) were with Mr Ong. We also have a new teacher for History called Mr Tan also who will be replacing Mr Lim. Speaking of index numbers, Darryl and Kevin have the same index number, 24! You know how I know? On the Heymath portal you can add buddies right? Of course I didn't do that, I just looked at the name list because I wanted to know their surnames. I also counted from the top. They are both number 24! :O Anyway, we did 2 stations-sit-ups and Shuttle Run. We did sit-ups first, which I am quite good at. I am very fast but when it comes to 20+ sit-ups, I slow down but always manage to get A. I did 31 although I only need 30 because the person helping me tell me what" 31, 1 more". I'm not that dumb as to stop one sit-up to A-.- They guys have to do 42/43. Zhe Rui did 49! If he did 1/2 more than it'd be 50 because he went down then time was up, so he didn't come up.

Then we did shuttle run, run to the end and pick up a sponge, run back and put the sponge down. Then run back and take the other sponge, run back and past the cone.I was the second person since my index no. is 22. After Joey(no. 21) ran, Mr Ong taught us how to go past the cone and pick up the sponge so we won't waste time. So I was the first to run after that. Then he asked me how to pick it up, then I paused then did what he showed us. I told Joey I play Trombone then can stretch my hand haha. My timming is 12s I think.

Then after PE was English then recess then Geography. Zhe Rui sat beside me for Geography, CME and VL(last 3 lessons in order). Not directly beside me, I mean beside me in the next row which is very close to my row.

After school before I left the classroom, I asked Liyana if we're supposed to put the History project(Powerpoint printed out) in Mr Lim's pigeon hole. Then she asked to look at my group's project which I took out, so I let her see it. I asked her whether the background is nice and that I did it myself. Then she said" Really ah? How you do?" Then I just told her how and she said it's distracting. That's means it's so nice until people will focus more on the background that the words! :D I went home after putting it in the pigeon hole.

Band practice tomorrow! :D Ngee Ann Tapestry 3 on Sunday! :D My First Recital on Tuesday! :D

Band practice

I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!:D

Band practice yesterday! :D I finally got to oil my slide! I was waiting outside the M-Learning Room with some other juniors. The seniors practiced there because they needed a better environment to practice for the upcoming National Band Competition. Ms Leong came and told us we were practicing in General Office 2 and said something about going in from another door because the door was locked. Then we went to set up our instruments. Xuan Lin(Clarinet) isn't quiting anymore. Xue Qi and I set up our instruments and waited for her. She took quite a long time. Then I saw Darryl and I finally mustered my courage to ask him for slide oil. Actually it's nothing, just "Darryl Darryl do you have slide oil?" like that only. But for some reason, so many times I saw him but dared not ask. Then he said"You wait I go get." and I waited for very long outside M-Learning Room at the benches haha but Xuan Lin took longer. Then I saw Cai Yan, Zhi Hui and Xue Ting(Xue Qi's sister). Cai Yan asked me something like " How's the Trombone?"(I think) then she said" I mean how are you coping?" Haha then I said"Er...ok la..." You know what she said next? She said" Darryl say he ask you to play louder but like no difference like that. Then he say you like never talk like that." Haha -.- he also doesn't talk to me. The only things he says is" Can you play your B flat Major?" "Hold your note longer." "Play louder" all that only, haha. Then she suddenly put her hand on my shoulder until she was almost hugging me and say "My junior... :)" and Xue Qi was laughing -.- haha. When Xuan Lin came, before we went to the canteen I asked Cai Yan where is Darryl and she went" DARRYL...!!" Haha. Then I quickly said" Never mind never mind can you help me pass this to him?" just wanted to return the oil...

We went to the canteen and practiced there until 4pm then went to GO 2 to practice until 5.30pm. At the canteen, I was extending the slide then suddenly the whole slide came out! But I know it can be easily put back, so I quickly put it back. We didn't do warm ups because we already did so in the canteen, so we started off with no. 68 in Standard Of Exellence, title- Warm Up. Haha. We practiced Montego Bay the whole practice I think. At 5.30pm Ms Leong said she didn't know it was already 5.30 and apologised for not giving us a break. So she gave us 3 minutes then we played our duets. She asked who wanted to go first and Xue Qi looked at me. She continued asking and I ask Xue Qi if she wants to play first, she said anything. So I raised my hand very high as if I was very enthusiastic and we played first. But today I didn't play it so well, maybe because I was so cold until my skin changed colour.

Then we moved the benches back to the second canteen. Oh by the way I moved a bench to the room! First time, but only half way. Moving back also, because it was heavy! Haha. I made a new friend, Xuan Lin. After that we washed our mouthpieces and went back to the Band room to keep our instruments. On the way there, Cliff asked us to go to M-Learning Room as Ms Ong had announcements. She said we juniors will be going with the Main Band to Ngee Ann Tapestry 3! She said they move the chairs too slowly so we go to help them move chairs and stay to watch them too of course. I bought both the tickets that I was supposed to sell already. I'll just give it to someone else then.

Next Tuesday is My First Recital(Season 1)! Xuan Lin hasn't chosen a solo song yet. I know I'm going to be nervous. I already dare not even ask my own senior for slide oil, imagine playing in front of 3 or 4 of them(including Cai Yan or not) and seniors from other sections! Bye!

First day of scool after a month

I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!:D

First day of school today after about a month or so. We have a new time table but I didn't know. There was Literature today instead of VL but I didn't bring any Literature things. Luckily our new teacher didn't need any of them, except maybe the file which many didn't bring. Our new teacher is Ms Lorraine Lee.

Before the national anthem, Mr Lim told me that there was correction tape on the reply slip to withdraw money from my Edusave account so my parents have to sign again. Then later he said"This one also." then he took out another paper under mine and I saw the name was "Teo Zhe Rui" then he said" Oh no no this is Zhe Rui's." -.- Actually on the paper, it says student sign again, so I don't know who's supposed to sign. Zhe Rui was late today. First time. He was late by about 30min! It was during Literature when I heard people saying his name. Ms Lee is quite strict so I thought she would scold him but she didn't.

Then after that was MT lesson. So boring as usual. No homework was given, he just tell us something about not using books for exercises and using paper instead. Then for the nest almost one hour of the time, he just sat there and played computer games. The game he was playing was something where you put 2 names then the names will fight. Not that you can see anything, but only it will appear who hit who and who get injured. Is he barbaric or what? Then he was using students' names-.- I yawn so many times every time it's Chinese lesson, not because I don't like Chinese, because his lessons are damn boring. I'm sitting right in front but I yawn and rest my head on the table and all that.

Then was recess. I saw Kevin at the canteen then I go tell Wen Ling "See that tall tall guy there, that's my senior. He very tall right? He so tall! The Trombone position 7 he don't even need to stretch all the way. So good, he so tall..." Then I saw Hui Xin and said" You see that guy, he very tall right? That one is my senior, he so tall!..." Haha!

After recess was Science. Mr Lim said we won't be using books this month. We'll be studying life sciences with some notes printed out. Quite a lot of notes, very thick. The course started 3 years ago and at that time, the students had to pay more than us. Teacher read out some information and we had to fill in the blanks in the notes according to what is read.

Last period-Maths. Mr Lee also said we were not going to use books anymore for exercises and we were going to use paper. All the books we bought are wasted! And also the book list stated to buy 15 books but we only used 6 I think. All the others are totally blank and the used ones are not even half used yet! What a waste! He taught Geometry today, a lot of angles, interior angles, vertically opposite angles, adjacent angles on a straight line, alternate angles...

Band practice tomorrow! :D I really have to get my hands on that oil! I cannot move the slide in time sometimes:( The recital is next Tuesday! I don't want to play with a very stiff slide, it's so hard to play. All our seniors are going to be there! I don't know whether those without Sec1 juniors will be there too. Even if they're not going to be there, I'm still nervous because my seniors will be there! Actually I don't have to be nervous because there's no doubt I'm good. It's not self praise, Karl Chua said that when Darryl was teaching me last time-the first practice after we got into our sections. I'm good :D

Band practice

I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!:D

Band practice yesterday! :D I saw my seniors so many times yet I didn't ask them for oil for my instrument. When we were setting up our instruments I went into the Band room and saw Kevin then I came out again haha! I told Xue Qi my senior is inside then she said"Your senior inside then you cannot go in?" Then I said"No but I don't want. I shy shy ma." Haha! So I waited for him to come out then I went in haha!

We practiced Montego Bay and Frere Jacques again. Ms Leong really doesn't know how to read you know. She keeps saying "Feres Jacques" when the spelling obviously shows that it isn't pronounced that way. We practiced Chromatic Scale in crotchets, quavers and semiquavers. Semiquavers is a bit hard for me. We practiced our duets for the recital. She said that we are the first batch in the history of the Band who are doing the recital. We are starting that in the Band! Wow, first batch. Then after that we went to the canteen to observe our seniors. Ms Leong said we were not playing properly so she asked us to go there. The seniors practiced Blue Ridge Saga and Silvercrest. While they were playing, Ms Leong kept interrupting and saying they were not together with each other. The whole Trombone section was there yesterday! :D They were moving the slide so fast! And it's so cool when more than 1 trombone is playing and the slide positions are different! Of course 1 trombone playing is also cool:)

The recital is next next Tuesday, very soon. We'll have to introduce ourselves before we start playing by telling Seniors our name, section and the song we are playing. My song is Alouette, pronounced as A-lu-ette. I'm sure I'll be very nervous then. Bye!

Band practice

I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!:D

Band practice today! :D I was slightly later than usual and I saw Darryl in the bus! :O When I saw him at the bus stop one stop from the interchange, I was like so surprised because I thought he walks to school although I've never seen him walk to school, and he sat at the seat right in front of me! :O

When I reached school, Xue Qi and Jaslyn were already there and Xue Qi had the card key and steel key to the M-Learning Room but she didn't open the door. Apparently she was waiting for me. So the three of us went to open the door. I managed to open the door but we couldn't open the steel gate inside. And I found out, after the card key unlocks the door, you must quickly unlock it with the steel key or the light there will turn red and it'll make a sound like an alarm. That was what happened so I closed the door and tried again. For the steel gate, the key could go in but we couldn't turn the key.

While we were trying to open the steel gate, the PA system had announcement saying national anthem was starting soon, then I got a shock, haha. Then while we were still trying to open the steel gate, the national anthem started but people were still walking and Darryl and James also. Then we were standing there and it's like so awkward so I said something. First time I do that during national anthem. In the end we went to set up our instruments first and Xue Qi went to tell Cliff it couldn't be opened. Then when we came back, it was open.

Ms Leong was late by 30min again. We practiced Montego Bay and Frere Jacques. Ms Leong doesn't know how to spell Frere Jacques. She spelled Feres Jacques on the white board haha! Half way through practice, a tuba needed oil. So he went to look for his senior in the canteen. I don't know how they look for their seniors. It's like they are practicing in the canteen half then you just go and there and ask for oil? Then Ms Leong said we must maintain our instrument. I asked her Trombones also can use that right? Actually I already knew Trombones can use that but that was an indirect way of telling I want to use it. Then she asked the senior and they both said no-.- When Cai Yan taught me how to oil my slide she also used that one. All the instruments can use that I think. But anyway, because of that, I didn't oil my instrument. I was thinking of doing so during the break but I didn't.

I'm going to have a duet with Xue Qi- Jolly Old St Nicholas. actually supposed to have the duet with Jaslyn but as I said, she is louder than me, so Xue Qi is taking her place. But at the end of Band practice Ms Leong was counting how many duet, she counted me twice were surprised. Then when I told her Jaslyn isn't playing she asked why and someone said because I'm too soft. I didn't even say anything ans she said that's not a good excuse-.- What the heck man! What's a duet if you only can hear one player?-.- If she wants her to play that much then why not just give her two solos? Why make me unhappy? Some people are only playing twice- combined and solo. But me? I'm doing the most, 4, - combined, solo, duet and duet. Why in the world would anyone want to hear to pairs doing the same song and with one person doing it twice? And if it's at the end I might be tired from playing the combined and solo piece in front. If it's in front then I might be tired from playing so much until the combined piece I can't play well. Urghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

At the end of practice, we played our solo pieces. And before I started I asked her when I could get to oil my instrument. She asked me really need ah? Of course when I need, I really need it right? Can't be fake. I MUST oil my instrument on Friday!! And I'm going to object to my doing two duets!

Band practice

I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!:D

Band practice today! :D We practiced Montego Bay, Frere Jacques and our solo and duet songs. I wanted to change duet partner because she plays so damn loud and it's a duet not a solo so both should be equally loud. But Ms Leong said it was ok when we played. If it was ok why did she have to ask me to give more sound? I'm always being compared to her because we are the two best players in Junior Band and it's irritating! I can't wait to join Main Band! It'll be more fun, I can practice with my seniors and I won't be disturbed by her so I can practice properly. My Trombone slide needs oil, it's very stiff. It would be easier to play Alouette(my recital piece) if it was less stiff. There are quavers in the song. I played quite fast then Ms Leong told me not to rush. Actually I wasn't rushing, I was playing according to my own pulse constantly and rushing is playing faster then it's supposed to be. Then she turned on the metronome and I followed that pulse. I don't want to go that slowly, I want to go according to my own pulse which is faster and sounds nicer.

Ms Leong said she isn't inviting our parents to the recital anymore because there are too few juniors. Before she said who she was going to invite, I knew that she was going to say our seniors. True enough, she said. Then I said "I knew it la :D" She now wants to have Frere Jacques for the recital. She keeps changing her mind, she says Ode to Joy needs more woodwind instruments.

I didn't oil my instrument because the seniors were dismissed later and the oil is in the Quarter Master's/Misstress' cupboard which was locked as usual. I still don't know whether I should go for the Trombone outing. And, I have seen a different side of Cai Yan, the ugly side. Last Friday after Mr Yeo asked juniors to go for sectionals on Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars, I saw her standing on a bench. She was talking about height obviously, that's when she said I'm short. She kept talking to them and they were not practicing, just talking. Usually without her, I see them practicing. And she really laughs like crazy, seriously, very loud. I think she's not my favourite senior anymore. If I go for the outing, I might see a worse side of her.

Today during our break we couldn't practice anything because a French Horn teacher was teaching the French Horn juniors in the M-Learning Room. They had their break earlier.

Yesterday I watched Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. There's this character who goes into some kind of teleporting machine. Then he shrinks and they stretch him to make bigger. Then at the end of the show, they show him walking out of the factory but he became very tall. So tall until he looks like Kevin! Haha! He also walk like Kevin. Maybe tall people walk like that because they're tall. Bye!

Band practice

Band practice today! :D Cai Yan came back! :D She said because they asked her to come back. Ms Leong didn't come today so we spent the whole practice in the first and second canteens. We juniors kept having sectionals practicing the same songs. First, sectionals with my seniors-Darryl and Kevin. Played chromatic low notes. I didn't do that well at the quavers part. Sometimes I was lost so I looked at Kevin's position but his hands are so long, even at position 7 his hand is not even stretched all the way. So when I'm lost at position 6 or 7, it doesn't help by looking at his positions. If I look at Darryl's position then will help because he's same as me, position 7 must stretch all the way. Then after that we combined. Mr Yeo said there is supposed to be semiquavers after the quavers. I managed to play the semiquavers too. Then later, he went on to B flat Major scale, semibreves, minims, crotchets, quavers, triplets and semiquavers. This time I couldn't play the semiquavers.

Actually, Darryl was talking to us but I don't know who he's talking to. He said" You sit nearer to the Trumpet then you sit here." I don't know who he's talking to and Kevin sat with him so I sat with Vernon(Sec1 Trumpet). Then Mr Yeo asked me to sit between the two of them so both of them can guide me and prevent them from gossiping at the same time, haha. But they can still talk when I'm there actually. We played Chorus Of Frogs and I forgot if we also played Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars. Then Mr Yeo asked the Sec 1s to go for sectionals and Darryl lend me his scores. Actually I also have my own. All the juniors went to the second canteen and the wind kept blowing the scores and they kept dropping and his paper was crumpled! Actually I was thinking of giving him my scores since they were not crumpled but I returned him his in the end.

Every now and then we had sectionals and combined so we kept moving from one canteen to another. Then later, the juniors went to the first canteen to combine while the seniors went to the second canteen for sectionals. Actually I didn't set up any stand but Jaslyn went to take one for me then. So we played Chorus Of Frogs first. Mr Yeo tried to play my Trombone but his Euphonium mouthpiece couldn't fit in but he still played anyway. Then Mr Yeo asked me"Is that clear folder yours?" I said yes then he asked why I wasn't using it then I told him the thing cannot stay open, and I had to repeat that line many times because he couldn't hear me, haha. Then he asked me to put the scores inside and said he'll tell me how to make it open. Then he kept asking me to open it some more all the way but I only opened a bit haha. Then when I let go, it was open! Then we played Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars. Then we had sectionals again.

I went to the second canteen near my seniors. They were talking about something and Cai Yan was laughing like crazy, haha. Then she suddenly said"You want her to join in? She even shorter!" Then Kevin said" She Sec 1 only!" That's the point, I'm only in Sec 1-.- And by the time I'm in Sec 3 I'll be taller than Darryl you know. By next year I should already be around his height. Then Darryl and Kevin went for combined and Cai Yan taught me a while Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars.

When practice was going to end, we all went back to the first canteen. No place for me to sit because Cai Yan there so I just stood behind her, and she didn't even know, haha. Then I heard Kevin telling her what" You ask the one behind you..." Then Cai Yan didn't know someone was behind her until she turned around and I said" Hi" haha! She asked me whether I want to go for Trombone outing and of course I want. She said it's next Saturday, go to Marina eat steamboat. And all the Trombone alumni will go too. Maybe I don't want to go...I'm the only one from Junior Band so I think it'll be awkward because I only know Cai Yan, Kevin, Darryl and Samuel and I only talk to Cai Yan unless they talk to me or I need to ask them something. I think it'll be awkward. Bye!

Band practice

I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!:D

Band practice yesterday! :D I was the first of the juniors to arrive. Ms Chen saw me and passed me the card key to the M-Learning room. She asked me to try to open the door to check if it was locked. So I went to try but it was locked, so she asked the worker to unlock it. Then I went to try again and managed to open the door. I was going to give her back the key then she asked me to hold on to it. And after Band practice give it to either Cliff or her because she thinks he needs to use the room for a meeting, but usually when there's nothing on then just drop it into the key box. I don't know why she asked me to hold on to the key. So I kept the key in my pocket. After Band practice Ms Chen came to collect the key.

We practiced Montego Bay again. When Band practice was going to end soon, Ms Leong finally practiced Chorus Of Frogs again but only once. Earlier on I was just asking when we would ever touch those scores again. Those scores consist of scores of other songs too. I wanted to practice Ode To Joy. I don't know if Ms Leong still wants that song for the recital. She wants Montego Bay. Maybe she wants both. We did chromatic scale too, from low B flat to F. My slide positions are 1,7,6,5,4,3,2,1. Ms Leong doesn't go very fast so I could change positions in time. Tomorrow we are going to do chromatic scale again, from low B flat to high B flat.

I used to be the best in Junior Band for a while. But now, I have a rival, Jaslyn. She used to play soft but now she's loud. Her instrument is short that's why. My instrument is long so the air needs to travel a longer distance and naturally, I will need to use more air. When I play her instrument, I also can play loud. I will work hard and I won't go down so easily!

My grandmother's birthday

I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!:D

Today is my grandmother's birthday! I just came back from celebrating her birthday. We got her a strawberry cake because I read from Cai Yan's blog that she got a strawberry cake for her birthday so I felt like getting my grandmother a strawberry cake too. We got the cake from Prima Deli at Compass Point. The cake looks so nice!

Doesn't it look so yummy?:D It is, and for the first time I want to eat the cream. The strawberries are not just on top of the cake, they're inside the cake too! Yummy!

We went to choose the cake and pay first then went back later to collect it. I wanted to get shoes because my slippers are too small although I can still wear it. But Compass Point only had a few. So my father brought the cake home first while me and my mother went to Hougang Central. I bought my shoes there from a shop where I once bought a pair of shoes for my school camp. I only wore it once according to my mother-back home from the shop. Actually I was going to get a blue pair but the size 36 was too small and the next size was 39 which would be too big, so I chose another pair.

The white lace is so that I can change the colour of my lace, according to the shop staff. The plastic bag that she put the shoe box in is nice. It's got pink bears and heart shapes! My mother said at first that staff wanted to use a normal bag but the lady boss told her to use the nice bag:D

Band practice

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZHI HUI!:D

Band practice today!:D After one week of break, band practice:D Brought back the mouthpiece again because Ms Leong asked us to. Actually she wanted us to loan the instrument. No combine with Seniors today:( I think it's because they need to practice for Ngee Ann Tapestry 3.

The classroom doors were locked so we couldn't get chairs but in the end we still got the chairs, I don't know from where. For the first time, me and Jaslyn took the box of stands and put it back. It's quite heavy.

I started to get a bit hungry a short while before the break. So during break, me Jaslyn and Xue Qi went to the canteen but none of the stalls were open. Maybe because there are no more extra lessons now. The seniors were practicing. Kevin came today. He wore his class T-shirt. It looked like 1R5's class T-shirt because it was black, the sides were grey and the words and numbers are gold. He's in 2R6 by the way, my future class:D He was in Shenyang the first week, so he didn't come for practice.

When we went back to the M-Learning Room it was only 10.10, still 20mins more till the break was over. So the three of us practiced and Ms Leong didn't go for break today so she was there too. Then Mr Yeo came in and talked to her. Me and Jaslyn kept practicing our duet for the recital, Jolly Old St Nicholas. Then later Mr Yeo was humming it while we were playing. Just before he left he was humming then when we finished he went"Wonderful! Thank you!" haha! Ms Leong said it was quite short so she wants us to repeat once. Then Jaslyn wanted to switch parts after the first round. The second round the last 2 bars I played wrongly in front of Mr Yeo because I was used to part B.

We also played Montego Bay. Ms Leong wants that song for the recital. We only played until bar 12. Actually we only played 8 bars because there is a 4 bar rest in front. That song uses E flat major. That's about it. Bye!

Malaysia trip

I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!:D

I went to Kluang, Malaysia to visit my grandfather on Monday and came back on Tuesday. My third auntie and uncle went with me and my mother. I took some pictures, which I don't usually do.

The sign shows the road name. The house is located along this road, Jalan Nasib 1/2. I don't know why there is a 1/2 there.

This is my grandfather's house. He lives with my smallest uncle. We stayed at his house.

This is my mother and me! The green car behind us belongs to my grandfather. He changed the colour. Last time we visited, it was a different kind of green.

I even brought my mouthpiece there to practice!

My mother and auntie kept nagging me to go out of the house and talk a walk, so I did that. The bread seller happened to pass by. There, they sell bread by honking horns or playing music while moving around in a trishaw or van carrying bread, something like an ice-cream truck, but this is a bread truck. That's what I call it.

I saw some Jack fruits, Papayas and other things. I also saw a lizard. My mother and auntie said it was a chameleon but it wasn't green like the plant it was on, so I don't know what kind of lizard it is. There was also a half eaten papaya on the tree together with some other good papayas and another one had a whole in it. There was a small bird eating the half eaten one but I didn't see it.

Those are the jack fruits by the way.

On the first day, in the evening I was going to bathe. In the bathroom there are these hooks on a piece of plastic on the wall. I hung my towel and my clean clothes there. Then the whole thing dropped on the floor and everything got dirty! It dropped so loudly that even my mother and auntie outside could hear it and asked what dropped. It's a bathroom yet the floor is so dirty at the corner. You might think it's because that was the corner so the water can't reach there, but that bathroom is very small. Then when I picked up the towel and clothes, I saw brown patches on them, looks like shit or something! Urgh!

Then later, dinner time. They ate so noisily, especially my smallest uncle who was beside me unfortunately. Are his teeth that hard or what? That stupid sound he makes when he closes his jaws, irritating.

Then after dinner, watched Hearts Of Nineteen, which I missed partly because of dinner. At home I can eat and watch TV at the same time. When the show ended at 8pm, mother, auntie and uncle went shopping. My mother just bought some tidbits while my auntie and uncle got other stuff and held up my mother. In the end they returned at 10pm+ and I wasn't sleeping yet. I slept at 11pm+. So the next morning when everyone went for breakfast at the usual coffee shop, I refused to get out of bed so they let me stay at home alone. Haha! I actually wanted to sleep, but after I woke up I couldn't sleep already because my auntie kept disturbing me. My mother brought back beef noodle for me, not nice.

Then in the afternoon we came back to Singapore. My uncle only sent us to the MRT station then from there, we had to take MRT then take bus again. When my father had a car, we went to their place to pick them up. Now why must we inconvenience ourselves by taking 2 forms of transport before getting in their car? Unfair, stingy people. And his car is so childish. Decorations every where, bears, dogs, birds and loud music with bass boost. They still think they're very young? Had headache the moment I stepped into the car. Home sweet home. Bye!
