Band practice

♫♪I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!♪♫

Band today! I went up to the band room but no one's there, and the lights are off, but I pulled the door handle anyway. And surprisingly it's open! But I didn't go in, I sat outside and did CL homework! Xuan Lin came up. She went in then out again. Cliff and Darryl came. Cliff said something about the door, don't know if he asked or said it's open. I think he asked. I said it's open, then Dar thought it's locked and went in through the music room, say what very easy go in by there, haha. Cliff was like saying he crazy one, the door open then wanna go in by there, lol! There were Guzheng people inside I think :O Xue Qi came, soon after, 3 of us went in. The spoilt instruments are still here! Yihui said they'll be sent on Monday which was ytd! Then I later heard that 'she took the clarinets'. Probably Ms Deepa, cos I've seen her dealing with instr repair before. The door to the store room was stuck. I kicked it and it opened! :D I set up my trombone. I saw a countdown to SYF and it was 7 days so I changed it to 6, haha. Then, since the chairs were stacked up, I help to arrange, mostly unstack only. Wth, people take the chair for their own section one, then some people just take it without asking while they're still holding onto the chair. Even worse, another section, the chair already put at their section alr then some people just take from there, wtf la. Cannot go get it themselves meh? Handicapped people also can they cannot means what? -.- Anyway, after that take stand and file. I unlocked the back door to go out and wash mouthpiece then I finish alr then Jas go. I lock her out and make her go by the other door. While she walk there, I unlock the back door, and when she came in I open it, haha!

Oiled my slide! :D Cliff sent us out for sectionals, but I stayed in the room first because CH go refill water, Darryl wash mouthpiece I think (he was holding it) He tuned tubas, then ask me where's the rest. I say they go toilet. Then he tuned me, a bit sharp then I pull out tuning slide then ok! :D When they came back after a few minutes, he tuned them. Yay, I'm still pitch perfect :D Then we went sectionals outside. The left side, on the other side of the corner alr, means no one can see us, which isn't very good. CH's file pockets tore :( If he hasn't asked any Quarter Mistress then I'll try getting some pocket from them. We all practised on our own. You know what Dar say? He said nothing much to focus on so just play again and again. He makes so many mistakes in each song that could cause us many points! Long he play short, short he play long. Accent he play normal, his dynamics almost no difference. I was playing really really soft (softer than I'm supposed to be) because earlier on before tuning, I was playing the start of Overture No. 1. I was trying to play softer, working on it. I played quite loud, then I was gonna play softer, but before I could even correct it by playing softer, he tell me to play softer -.- Hello, he also play that loud when it's not his melody. After a while, he went to the side and can see the corridor where the rest are. He tell CH to go and see. I was thinking "Don't tell me they all go in alr" then CH said something like that, lol. He go see, really, they all gone. So we walked back. CH say they 'country-cist' lol. I heard ppl make up the word 'nationalist' but not 'country-cist' haha! Then he said they're 'Darrylcist' lol?! And Dar said that to CH then say they are 'trombonecist' or something like that. -.- CH said "Don't tell me Mr Yeo here alr" but I thought he would if not they wouldn't go back. Dar tell me go by back door, so I did. I look through the 'window' on the front door when I past. Mr Yeo there alr, then I saw Ms Leong behind us! :O Suddenly appear! She asked where we're going. I said by the back door. Mr Yeo was tuning them. When it came to trombone, I was still pitch perfect! :D Why so perfect today? :D

I think we did Overture No. 1 first, then A Monmouth Overture until 6+ then Overture No. 1 again. He went slow for Overture No. 1 so for the 4 semiquavers I could tongue every note clearly, but oops, it's supposed to be slur so soft tonguing. A while later, A Monmouth Overture. 1st time quite fast, but not too fast for us. After that not so fast alr. Lol, CH really quite... funny eh. Dar rub his eye then CH ask 'Why you cry?' lol, I know it's just a joke la. I think he said ytd he open his case then smth flew into his eye :O CH start talkin nonsense after that, hahaha! They v intimate, I dare not see, haha. He say what 'you open big big I see' cos he wanna see what happen to his eye. Ew, haha. He say some lame things la, like what, 'Too small, open bigger... later open too big the whole thing drop out' and 'Take out half (of the object) then the other half stuck inside' and other stuff I forgot. Lol. Mr Yeo was singing one part, forgot which part but not our part, he was doing some hand action & grinning. Then CH say "Look like 'chee koh peh' " I found this damn funny! It was alr 6+ but Mr Yeo went back to Overture No. 1. I think about 6.30pm then he stop. I think we should put bags outside the room cos there's damn many bags blocking me today. No space to keep instrument even. CH now puts his bag outside. And again, nice bag :) Hand in SYF consent form. Saturday prac might be extended till mid afternn or evening. Bye!

Band practice

Yo! Band practice today! Yesterday Dar ask CH if he's coming today as if he wanna come -.- Not coming then ask he coming for what, also no difference to him right? When I came to school, the staircase wasn't open so I waited with a few band girls. The benches have been removed :( I saw CH come. I thought he was early, because where I waited there weren't many people. Then I saw my watch, 7.55am alr. We went by the classroom block after Karl came and told us. CH reached first, cos he went to the block first, bleh. I took the SYF consent form and practice schedule and put in my band file. Then I set up trombone and put at my place and forgot to take stand and file, haha. And I used back MY mouthpiece today, the one where the coating came off. After wash mouthpiece, I go take. I was playing Novena! :D Then some were playing Overture No. 1, CH joined in then I also joined. :( Novena!!! Joined in at the bottom of the 1st page until the end. Then sectionals. We're v. fast, so we got the table. Then F horn came. Wtf, they stole our spot not the other way round la. Me & CH always sat at (or rather on) that table on Saturday. Then they came and kept using it until they think that's their spot. (I'm not saying the spot belongs to anyone, I mean our spot as in our usual spot. We don't own it) First trumpet, then them, who next? -.- Then they go sit behind us facing the other way. Disturb us till I can't hear CH count 1 bar before we start, wth. Then Serene joined them (she's alone till Shimei came)

Not as much slacking today :) Keep it up Trombone! Warm up, Bb major 4 counts then Eb major 2 counts. I go play 4 counts, oops, haha. Overture No. 1 first, then A Monmouth Overture. I told him at B (Overture No. 1) the melody very soft. Then he said cos the accompaniment competing with the melody, if we play louder it's like everyone's competing to play louder. Really? I thought the melody would be louder if we play louder, and not purposely play louder until it sounds like we're competing. But anyway, at least he explain (although his explanation doesn't make sense to me), it's better than just saying I play louder than 1st & 2nd trombone. His explanation makes more sense than that because if I play louder than them they just have to play louder WHICH IS WHAT I'M TRYING TO MAKE THEM DO BECAUSE THE MELODY IS SO SOFT! Why is our melody always so soft when woodwinds melody is so damn loud?! They cannot control the air and screaming is it?! High note doesn't = loud! Unfair la, then they always spoil our melody also. Oh ya, Serene went elsewhere later followed by the F horn. SO, YAY. After a while, I finally told CH about the staccato note that he never played staccato, which is the 1st note in bar 97. Then he immediately tried playing it with a staccato. See, that's the way, that's the attitude we should have. He takes comments seriously and takes note of it and rectifies it immediately. No wonder LR wrote on the card that he's committed to band :) And sometimes when we're not playing together, he would accidentally play without staccato but then he'll play it over and over again :) CH rocks!

Yeah, after a while, he told me to go in (the band room) and said there's no one inside. I think cos Chen Hua went in. Then I was gonna go in but he suddenly run off don't know where, so I sat at the table again and continued until he came back and told me to go in again. Only us and Saxes (Shimei, Serene, Chen Hua). Slacking at first, the 2 of them (CH & CH) went into the store room don't know for what. CH went out to get his bottle but came back in and say cannot find. Then go out and came back in, found it, haha. Shimei & Serene were tuning. CH told Chen Hua after their sect done tuning, we combine. Later CH ask me to tune, and say I play first. So I play then he play then he said "I don't know" Haha! So after they tuned we combined at Overture No. 1. Oops, I came in early at 3 bars before E. Because I wasn't counting and I got distracted by Chen Hua. By the way, Shimei & Serene are sitting at the other end of the room, and me CH & CH are facing each other at our usual spot (just Chen Hua turn behind). Chen Hua played normal crotchets at E (he has all crotchets too) then after the song, CH told him about it. It's staccato.

Then A Monmouth Overture. We (CH, CH & me) alr started then Shimei go "Wait! Wait!" Haha! Starting we don't have melody only they have. Then twice the starting screwed up. 3rd time ok alr, and continue from there. Oh! At bar 73 Chen Hua has my parts! :D I thought I was the only one cos I never hear anyone else playing, but he early by one count. He has more parts same as mine that I think eupho don't have also. Ok so now I think we're the only 2 having that part at 73 :D Until I find another person. After a while, the air-con started snowing. Cheng Heng told I think Chen Hua not to on the light or else the air-con will be like that. Chen Hua (in Chinese) "Very fake eh" CH (in Chinese) "Fake snow" Then Ms Leong came in while they're playing with the snow. "What are you all doing ah?" Hahaha! Then I was playing 2nd trb part then CH ask me to go out. Then I realised F horn and Saxes were there together. Yeah, so we went back to the table. Chen Hua came out too. Later Cliff came asked where's Darryl. (Shouldn't he know? They're classmates and it's not the first time. It's everytime. CH say he got tuition. "Tuition his head la. He so nerd already still wanna tuition." While he was still standing there we practising the 4 semiquavers at Overture. He's in front of me and like 'Woah, woah, relax, relax' Hahaha! After a while it was break.

Serene came to keep to company or whatever. I tried to play from CH's file :D I saw his A Monmouth Overture score. At the part where there's ritardando and it's his 2 notes solo, he wrote 6 “看”there, 3 on top 3 below, haha! So cute! At first there was only one, now there's 6. I played The Incredibles. Woah, trail is hard, the end note of my trail is still so high, A (from high D flat. I asked if the note is supposed to be where the trail line ends. She thinks so. I tried Silvercrest but gave up after the first line or so. Realised the whole song is in 2/4 time. After break at 10.30am he came back. Cliff say 11.15am go in but we went in before that.

Jas got no chair then her senior say take Darryl's chair -.- I said "It's your senior take your chair, not Darryl, so you take from your senior, not Darryl" Haha! So she took CJ's chair cos she didn't come today. They blocking CH so he sit next to me at Darryl's seat. Ms Leong tuned first, different from Mr Yeo one. She get each section to tune while another sections playing the tuning note. I don't think that's accurate. Anyway after that, she tell us to play 5 notes up and down from B flat and crescendo to decrescendo. But the difference not great enough so she asked us to put a palm in front and blow air. Then she asked us to make the 'ssss' kinda sound. Brasses first then woodwinds. Then play again. Then Overture No. 1. CH was like putting his hp on the chair beside him (which is actually his seat). He put there, then take and put down again, then take and put down again in diff positions. I was thinking "What's he doing???" Then we played Overture No. 1" After that there was some sound coming from his hp when he held it. He recorded it. "Eee, so sucky!" haha! Then Monmouth. Yucks, so sucky! They play until can one beat late one -.- Half way through, so messy then CH stop playing (I didn't realise) then I stop. So easy also mess up till 1 whole beat late ah. Ruined CH's recording. LOL Ms Leong said there's 3 kinds of people in the world. 1st kind creates things and are the leaders. 2nd kind waits ans sees then follows, the followers. 3rd king wait and see and don't do anything. Who's the 1st kind? Nobody raise hand, but say Cliff. Who's the 2nd kind, CH raise and I also did, and a FEW others. The rest slackers. Ms Leong said there's 9 days to SYF (me & CH said it's 8) then she asked something but no ans. "Am I talking to the wall?" CH "Talking to slackers" haha! After we finished the song. I asked CH to send to me but he said not nice. I said just send then he said his phone only got infrared. So I didn't get it :( Then I kept my stuff and came back out.

Yihui asked me to take out the 2 inst that need to be repaired. I go ask CH his also need to repair right? Need, so I go take Dar's trombone put outside. Then I call him I think 3 times. I even tap his shoulder but he's still playing with his bottle. Then someone called him and point to me and he still never turn around -.- Then I waved my hand in front of his face then he respond. LOL, then he go take his trombone. It's gonna be brought to repair on Monday :D Bye!

Band practice & Dress-down Day

♫♪I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!♪♫

Yo! Today's dress-down day in celebration of NAS Founder's Day. I wore black (or is it very dark blue? It's supposed to be black) jeans, black blouse with the words 'GLAM IN MUSIC' (because there's practice today :D) and black shoes with red lace and a bit more red. Everything black, haha, even my hair rubber band :O But 1st period PE and I took v long to change in and out of the PE attire. After school, I went to canteen and just when I was gonna buy food, Serene & CJ saw me so they sat there. After eating I bought drink (Ser still eating but she also) and CJ no need to eat or drink?! So we were there till 1.30pm. I took 30min more than usual :O They waiting for Germaine (HCL lesson) so I went to sit at the table they put their bags cos I wanna do homework. But I can't do, so I went upstairs. Maybe because I do homework there every Friday (and maybe a few Tuesdays) so I can't do it anywhere else haha. Or maybe cos it's somewhere closer to where my heart is :) Or maybe just because I'm more alone there. I managed to finish 2! That's nothing, I always finish homework up there. The new library is open, nice nice & air-con and all. Up there wooden bench attach to table, and hot. But the place outside the room will have better business from me compared to the library :D Cliff came and told me to pass XQ the flute (that was with him) then at first I agreed. Then I remembered she's absent so I told him and he said just look after it. About 2.30pm or a few min past, I went into the room (with the flute and put where Flutes sit) then go in store room take file & stand. Go back in take mouthpiece wash. Go back in set up and never go back in alr until dismissal, haha. Cheng Heng came past 2.30pm but before 2.40pm when I was setting up trombone. After I set up stand, CH was out so I help him too :) Then set up alr but was gonna make it higher and he came in so I left it like that, same height as mine. CH got a nice new white bag! Similar to his old one so I guessed it was his. He took out hw to ask CH.

Mr Lim (band teacher) came up here and told us to go sectionals but I didn't cos CH still discussing hw. Then he said "Trombone, you only?" something like that, then Chen Hua point to him and I think he made a peace sign, haha. Then we went sectionals. He wanna use the right side but crowded so the left side. People having Wushu so cannot go till the other side of the corner of the wall, so we're at the corner, but right to the left from everyone else. We did warm ups first. B flat major scale, 4 counts each, 2 counts, 1 count and 1/2 count. Then E flat major scale 2 counts each. Then we practice on our own cos he told me to, he said he wanna (don't know what, cannot hear) practise his own or something. He wore school shoes, Koref (Sec 3 camp) T-shirt and blue jeans. White and blue. His jeans so long! We practised both songs on our own. Sec 4s have their weekly common test starting today. So Dar came later. At first he was holding a slide (only) and come ask CH something, CH said inside (the store room I think)?! Now I know why the lights in the room wasn't on, it spoilt, as CH told Dar. We're still practising ourselves, because shortly after he came Cliff called us back in. Our section so guai. School encourage us to wear school colours then Dar got white & blue striped shirt and black jeans. Whole section go sch colour. Mr Yeo was here.

We practised first, then Mr Yeo let us hear the recording of us at SCH during the 2nd rehearsal. Overture No. 1 only. Before that he said he almost got into (car) accident (he listens to his bands' music in the car). Trombone and eupho melody at B is soft! -.- When there's the part where CH has High F E flat very loud (cos Mr Yeo wants that part to be loud, like solo) it was very clear. Well done CH! :D Then there's a grin on our (trombonists) faces, haha. Same for the bar 73 trombone part after 72 eupho part. Loud too, but can hear that they're purposely making it loud, not as nice as CH's 2 notes. I can hardly hear my part.And Mr Yeo ask me to play softer. Then he let us listen to the 1st rehearsal. He said luckily he didn't listen to that in the car. It's worse obviously. Melody at B was even softer I think. CH's 2 notes can hear but doesn't sound like a solo, soft enough to be accompaniment. Bar 73 not that loud also. Darryl tell me to play softer, he can hear me but not himself and CH. I cannot hear me! Then continue practising. I played louder at B but the 2 of them still same volume and say I play too loud. That part so soft can't they just play louder?! It's not that difficult to play a bit louder right? Or they prefer during the melody cannot hear properly. FYI I don't like it when I listen to music and I can't hear clearly because it's soft. It's like some background noise and it's boring. Again he said he can't hear himself and CH. Then I think he must be deaf (not the first time anyway). We played A Monmouth Overture too. Oh ya, Mr Yeo asked eupho to shift left that means they're freaking blocking us -.- CH's slide bang on James' chair, haha! Not his fault la, they go sit in front of us so they should be expecting that. It happened in the M-Learning Room last time too. I think he bang quite hard, haha!

Hmm...Darryl didn't leave at 5pm for tuition today... Dismissed late, 6+ Mr Yeo still talking. Then before attendance taking, Dar said his parents are here to fetch him. Some guy said his parents are not here, he takes the bus. That I not sure, though I know he does take bus home. We got SYF consent form and Term2 practice schedule. After SYF we'll stop practice and Sec 1s will practise on Wed and Fri. When he told us that I was shocked! Then I saw schedule, after the break is exams. Sec 4s will leave after SYF :( I said I don't want Darryl to leave. On the other hand... I might be less jealous without him. Nah, I probably will. But then sectionals will be different. A few weeks eh, I'm gonna miss my trombone (maybe seniors) again :( That period of time, when I have to study and go through hard times without anything/anyone to take comfort in. The anyone doesn't refer to my seniors la, it refers to the band. I think I don't like them as much as when I was in Sec 1. CH's ok. I can tell him where he plays wrongly and he will take note and change it :) Which is good, he takes comments seriously and works on it. That's the way to be :) Bye!

Band practice & Founder's Day performance

Good morning! Today is NAS school holiday because yesterday's Founder's Day and I have no breakfast because my parents are working. So I'm only drinking milk and eating some fruit bar -.- Yesterday was cool! First period gone due to prize presentation. Then EL, recess, Geography and last lesson is Form Teacher's time. Report book, 15 challenge T-shirt, cake (that something special) and friendship band by 4R1 during 15h challenge. In the morning Mr Lim said we'll get a piece of cake. "Tell me who doesn't eat a cake on a birthday," haha, cool. YAY, I HAVE NO REMEDIAL CLASS! The T-shirt is short. I thought size 34 would be bigger than that, and there's Tampines East CCC logo on one sleeve -.- There's 2 boxes of cake and many pieces of different cakes in each one. I took yellow one, heheh, a lot of cream (I don't like) but not bad. Friendship band, I got one that's pink, blue & green. Colour combination isn't very good, and there's a mistake, haha, so I think it's done by a guy. There's more guys than girls in 4R1 by the way. Dismissed at 12.30pm! I went home because practice starts at 4pm, and to get my band uniform. At 2pm or so, I sms Dar to ask if we have to be in uniform at 4pm when practice starts or can change later. But he didn't reply, so I asked CH who did. He say must change first. Then I ask (because he lives so near school) if he's going to school in band uniform, he said he's there already. :O He didn't go home despite living so near, but I did despite living so far. So I bathed and wore band uniform and tie the red and silver ribbons on my hair. I wore my stockings alr then realised the hole very big -.- so took it off. I wore full band uni alr (including shoes) then I just stepped out of my house then Dar reply need to report in full band uni -.- Haha, at least he didn't ignore me. I thought he not happy with me eh! :( :D

When I reached the room, very few people were there. CH was there. Dar's trombone was there (but he wasn't, go wash mouthpiece) so I went to set up and wash mouthpiece. ...the bad thing about long days is I can't remember what happened exactly! :( I think we practised until slightly past 5pm then went for dinner at the canteen. Buffet dinner but not that hungry. We're supposed to be back upstairs by 5.45pm but half the band was don't know where. I can't remember when Taufiq conducted March 'Blue Sky' and Monmouth twice each was before or after dinner. First time too slow then 2nd time faster. Actually I think 2nd time we did MBS faster then never do Monmouth. Anyway, after dinner was no proper practice.

I forgot when..but I think it's Taufiq conduct that time, the slower and faster one. I finally open my mouth and tell Darryl that the MBS note is C flat. Then he ask where. That time our stands in the hall alr, his file put against a chair in front on the floor but I never use file at all. Then I squint at his score trying to look for it, but can't see so I check my own file (it's 2 bars before I), but change song alr, to Monmouth. Then after Monmouth when we go back to MBS then I got to tell him it's 2 bars before I. Then he ask me to wait while he look for I, haha, and he finally smiled... He said it's Bb, know why? He's looking at 3 bars before I, haha. Now he's got it correct :) Position 4 ok, not 2 ah! No proper practice but some people were playing together, so I played with them :) (See I'm so nice) I rmb at Monmouth got 3 quaver notes that none of them (those playing) have then I played and Xue Qi look at me, haha. Cos before that's her melody. Although it's only 3 quavers, it's the melody! They kept playing somg after song, haha. I stopped sometimes of course. At 7+ I felt sleepy, haha! Then I put my head down then Darryl talk to me. I was like 'huh?' 'You ok or not?' 'Ya' LOL! Then I ask Jas to go out and walk with me. I saw CH playing bball downstairs at the bball court! I took 3 pics. There's CH, CH, Terrence and 3 CO guys. Black and white, haha.

Cheng Heng is my cool senior! :D There was some cool actions when he played :D Cool right? My senior la! Me & Jas supposed to go walk but I too engrossed watching him play, haha. Then we go to classroom block, so dark, and walk back. By then he go back alr, haha. After he took attendance LR had a gift for us! He made a card (like the one CY gave on Valentines' Day) and bought chocolates! He called us one by one and we went up to take. I realised he spelt my name wrongly. Cheng Heng was reading his message out loud. Good guy he go read as good gay even when Dar tell him it's guy. When I was showing Jas, I showed her the front first (with the wrong name) then I show the back where there's a message, he spelt right. When I showed her the back, Darryl saw the front (she sits in front of me) and exclaimed that he spelt my name wrongly. Something like "Orh! You spell her name wrongly!...." (Rebacca) Then CH want to see so I lent him, then Darryl tell LR. Then he said "Hi Re-bah-kah" Then I pretend wanna whack him. He still say twice ah! So I pretend wanna whack him twice, haha.

There's extra chocs so LR went round playing scissors paper stone with people. He kept winning everyone! Until my cool senior Cheng Heng came along and gave him his first lose! Haha, then some people (including me & Dar) clap for him, haha. CHENG HENG YOU ROCK! So he got an M&M from LR, woohoo! And he give to me (awww....). He said "Give you" then throw to me. Then I said "I don't want, give you (Dar)" (CH back at his seat alr) Then I throw that time it landed on his pants. CH say "Orh, dirty already!..." Haha, then Darryl throw to CH I think then throw around until reached Chen Hua and he kept it, I think, haha! Sorry Darryl. Then LR ask for one representative from each section. Haiyo, he threw at Darryl and drop on the floor leh, tsk tsk. He ask whether I want, I don't want so he give CH. Forgot what he did with it. (I think he told Dar to give me, either this one or the scissors paper stone one, think this one) Then LR ask for one more person and said if this person wins he gets 4. Actually Chen Hua went and want to arm wrestle but he got a lot of choc alr, so Cheng Heng went. They played 3 rounds. First round to CH, scissors to paper. 2nd round to LR scissors to paper too. Even. 3rd round to.... CHENG HENG! PAPER TO STONE! :D So he got 4 M&M haha, 2 yellow 2 brown. He gave me and Dar one each :D

Today I am happy, which I haven't been for exactly one week.

Someone told us that Guzheng went down alr, so he went through last round of both songs and went down. I was sure that I could play part G (MBS) without dropping an octave because earlier I could do it every time and still play part H (high). Bright lights, but it's ok, I have Trombone to block it. Higher than 90 deg eh! Monmouth first. Think mess up a bit. MBS mess up a lot! CH put down trb when he still had one bar to play after a one bar rest. They both put down but I didn't, and I didn't stand in for him oops, they lift up too late and missed the first bar or part of it when they come in. Argh! Drop one octave because my mouth too tired to pitch alr, and part H high notes failed. Why does this always happen. Practice so nice, performance not nice. After that go back and keep instrument. When I came out got someone's bag on my chair, very unfamiliar never see before. In the end, Dar's -.- So rich, every time got new bag one. I jealous leh, nice then buy, not nice then don't buy, woah seh! Haha, just joking. But seriously I think he's richer than me. Went back for stands and percussion inst after the last item (CO) ended. CH ask Dar to help him take stand, he don't want, then CH ask me take cos he wanna help take percussion inst. LOL 'bully me' but it's ok :D Back upstairs, 3 cheers then bye!

Band Exchange at Greenridge Sec

♫♪I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!♪♫

Hi! (When was the last time I started with 'hi'? Or is it the first time? Haha) Band exchange today at Greenridge Sec Sch, 2nd time, 1st time was last year. It's in the West I heard. I reached just at 7.45am (reporting time) or a bit later because I overslept 20min! The alarm rang at 6am, I woke up and turned it off and slept until about 6.20 when my dad came in and woke me. Know why? Cos my mom's not here, haha. I finished eating at about 7am, so late already. When I reached, Dar was there already, but CH not. I thought he would be there already. After a while, we went upstairs when LR told us to. The reason they were all there is that the staircase shutter was down at first, but later it was open but no one went up. I set up my trombone and took my stand and file. Very funny, and lame. Today I used a mineral water bottle instead my usual one, because I drew musical notes and wrote "BASS TROMBONE" on it. It was given during the 15h challenge. I went out to wash mouthpiece. I put the cap in my pocket (which I don't usually as my usual bottle's cap is attached to the bottle). After that I went back in and thought that the cap was on and put the bottle LYING DOWN on my chair. Then LATER (I didn't even realise it immediately) I saw all the water and then put the cap back -.- My file was there but luckily it doesn't absorb water. So I put my file on the floor and went into the store room. Because I look at Dar and I think he didn't notice, and I don't know what to do. In the store room, Serene setting up her saxophone, then I go tell her. "I dare not go out, because I scared Dar scold." and he walk past me just then... I didn't even know he came in cos my back facing the door. (Since when did I become scared of any of my own seniors -.-) I stayed in there for very long... Jaslyn came in, I told her also. I asked her to help me take the chair and clear the water. Then she don't want at first -.- Go out then come back in because I wasn't with her. She thought must go outside -.- I said just pour in the dustbin (store room). Finally she went to take it in (I was in there all the time, daren't go out) She put the chair there, I tried to shift it to the dustbin then immediately spill on the floor -.- She tried to pour then spill, then I pour and never spill a lot, haha. When she was pouring, I stood against the door so that people won't enter (hopefully) then Brayton go open the door and bang me, haha! -.- Then I thought maybe there's extra chair outside, so I left the chair in the store room and went out, don't have. I went back in and just luckily for me, there's 2 others in there. So I switched with one of them, but still I dare not go out. Ask Serene who was going out already, to help me, and she did. Then I dare to and went out. OMG what is wrong with me?!?!?! Maybe cos I see his face then I scared. Cos you know we're similar in a sense that we sometimes look unhappy (even when we're not). But even so, I was never scared of him...

Cheng Heng came while I was in the store room. LR say don't need stand so I left it there and we left the band room. 2 buses, one for Brass one for Woodwinds. But I heard LR let us brasses go to the other bus, so some brasses went. Cheng Heng sit right at the back row alone :( I thought he'd sit with someone. I sit alone too but that's cos it's only 2 seats so no space for another person but the back in one row. I thought only I would do those kinda lonely things (no choice for me la -.-)... When we reached there, we went to a classroom for warm ups. We did Chromatic Low Tones then Brayton conducted Overture No. 1. He said when Mr Yeo comes we stop. During the song, we just started Part B (Trombone and eupho melody) trombones just played the first note then stop already, cos Mr Yeo came, haha. We tuned and CH, Dar then me. CH and me very sharp and we pull out a lot of the tuning slide, haha. But he's sharper. For once his tuning slide is so much out. Mine not first time la, haha. I put my hp on GPS cos I wanna see where we are, then I took out my hp to see if signal there alr. Dar ask 'did CY just sms u?' I said no, then when I close GPS I saw the message, haha. She asked us if we're going for musart performance. No wonder he asked, cos she said 'You guys'. After that we went to the hall. I didn't sit with my section :( They draw lots again, this time we're 2nd! Last time we're the host, we were 6th (last). Now Greenridge's the host and they're 6th (last), haha! Woodlands Ring 1st. There was WRS, NAS, GSS, Dunearn Sec, Changkat Changi Sec and Orchid Park Sec (Wind Orchestra, nice name).

First round set piece, then break then 2nd round, choice and set piece. Every band played Overture No. 1 except Orchid Park with Overture No. 2. 2nd time I heard it, 1st was at Greenridge here too, when the 3 bands combined during last year's exchange. I played the semiquavers part VERY NICE!!! I don't know how I did but I just did. I don't know it I tongued... I think I did well. During break, I went down but didn't eat anything. There was donut (chocolate I think) and water. Then we went upstairs again. When I went for break I didn't put my trombone w' the rest... Darryl's bass beside CH's tenor, they're SO CUTE! :D Big and small, like mommy and baby!! :D I kept telling Serene 'so cute!' I wanted to put mine there too, but didn't, cos don't know if got space for me to sit there or not. There was a man from Nanyang Academy Of Fine Arts who commented on every band after the 2nd round. When it was our turn, sometimes I can't hear what he said. I didn't hear anything about Monmouth, even if he did comment, I didn't know when he stop talking about Overture and went on to Monmouth :S Overture this time wasn't as good, semiquavers not clear, and some wrong notes. Monmouth, one part was disgusting. 4 bars after 23, I was supposed to play (low) A flat (minim) D (minim) G (minim) C (minim) (position 3, 4, 4, 6) I played G instead of D and it sounded obviously wrong cos the sound is like 'plak' -.- Not just that note. Melody, over pitched 2 Ds to F for a split second then got D... and more mistakes.

We ended late, so there was only Mr Yeo's 3 bands left (the rest left). We got sweets from them :) In the bus (I think dear CH alone again) Darryl came to me and said '17' (?!?!) He put one bunch of sweet in my hand (so many!) then gave the remaining in the packet to the back. At first I thought it's for the band. Then I thought, and realised it's for Trb Sect. He gave it to CH behind :) Why got this odd (opposite of normal, not opp of even) no. 17 ah?! Unless the packet got 51? We're supposed to reach sch by 1pm but 2+ then reach. Dar waited (for CH) because he go tuition then ask CH to bring up the trb for him. (I didn't know what he's waiting for at first, until I saw CH with 2 trbs and Darryl not here. After keeping the stuff, LR let us take sweets given by GSS, I got a jelly cos there obviously isn't enough of everything for the whole band. There were only 30 today I heard. Then left school at 2.30pm! Bye!
I haven't been talking to you for how many days?

NAS 15-hour Challenge

15-hour challenge yesterday, in celebration of NAS Founder's Day. 730am to 10.30pm. All the way till 11.30am (lower sec lunch) I was making squares out of the magazines I brought. And I didn't fold one dragon. Some rude people just came and took so much of my paper, WTF, can't they tear it themselves idiots. During lunch time I bought one heart key chain, $1.50. I think they made it themselves. Some alumni came back to help a girl who graduated last year to raise money for an operation. After lunch at 12.30pm we went to the computer lab. I saw Cheng Heng, then outside the lab I saw him again. His class was before our class, but I don't know why he's not inside. We're supposed to answer as many questions correctly and every correct answer brings 10 grains of rice which will be donated to charity. I did mostly English Grammar and Multiplication Table questions. I managed to bring 5150 grains of rice at the end of 1h. Our target was 20 000 because that amounts feeds one for a day...

At 1.30pm we went back to class. I think I made more squares before starting to fold the dragons. Looks nothing like dragons. I took a long time to learn it and it's ugly. At 5.30pm we went for dinner, no veg this time -.- What kind of school doesn't give students veg? After that we went back to class and continued. Later, 2R6 & 2R5 went to the new library. We took a video that will be shown to the guest on Monday to launch the new library. We just clap and scream when they record. It's actually supposed to be live on Monday evening but Mr Lim (principal) decided to do it then so we won't have to stay back. Then went back to class. They stopped folding when they reached 1000. Why the heck did they? -.- Then later there's an announcement that said we have only (how many) dragons and require (how many) more, then they start rushing -.- They said last time that an officer from The S'pore Book of Records will come at 7.30pm to count, then at 8pm they announce that we have until 8.30pm?! -.- After we're done folding, we strung 100 dragons on a string. We had 1200+ by then I think.

Then at 9+ we went to the hall. 2 officers were there already. Last minute still ask us to fold more dragons, haha. Finally the teachers said we have enough already. I think there were extras since some were still folding when they ask us to stop. But they said we got 15 000. By the entire Sec 2 level, 2R1, 2R2, 2R3, 2R4, 2R5, 2R6, 2R7, 2C1, 2C2 & 2I1. Sec 3R1, 3R2, 3R3, 3R6, 3R7 and 3I1 I think made 13 500 masu boxes! :D They had a target of 15000 too but less people than Sec 2s, anyway, it's a record :D Don't know if there ever was but I know there never was for dragons :D 4R1 made 1685 friendship bands that will be distributed to all students and staff. 3R4 made the school logo with paper stars. Very nice, very accurate! One class made "RIGHTEOUSNESS AND COURTESY" out of paper hearts in yellow & blue. A sec 1 class made a quilt. Overall, yesterday was cool.

Before dismissal Liang Rong made an announcement, no practice today but have on Saturday. Then he suddenly "Wait! Wait!" and say he wanna do a cheer for NAS. He shout into the microphone 3 cheers, haha. So loud that Ms Tan (VP) covered her ears. The last one's loudest, haha. My Band Major la, love to do 3 cheers :D We're dismissed early, at 10+ before 10.30pm. They said the 15h challenge t-shirt will be given on Monday together with something special. The shirt's very nice :) When I was going to the canteen (my mom waiting) I saw Cai Yan at the table outside the bookshop. At first I thought it looked like her but don't look like her, but she look at me and waved. She put braces! Haha, and wear all black. I can't believe I almost couldn't recognise my own senior -.- At the traffic light, I saw Darryl. ...*sighs* totally ignore la. Bye.

Band practice, SYF Rehearsal & Founder's Day Rehearsal

Yesterday was SYF Rehearsal! Share slot with Dunearn Military Band again, so we have 1 hour there. But before going to SCH, we had practice as usual. We reported to school at 8.30am and bring band uniform and shoes. I used Darryl's previous mouthpiece, since he chcnged trombone and not using that mouthpiece anymore. His mouthpiece coating's still there, my coating came off, when I got it it was already like that. I forgot whether it's Monday or Tuesday I changed. Darryl is sometimes very inappropriate-drinking coffee in the band room -.- Come to think of it, I think it's quite funny. Don't know why, maybe because everyone's busy doing stuff, like setting up things then he sit there sipping coffee, very funny la. Don't know if he rinsed his mouth, I hope so! Oh my gosh, Darryl and Cheng Heng both know how to play one part of Pecos Pueblo, Dunearn's choice piece! When did they learn it?? I come for every practice but I've never heard them play it, so cool right? My seniors la, haha. Anyway warm ups, then sectionals. Darryl asked Kevin if he has anything sharp that he doesn't want. He don't have. Then he ask me if I have any hairpin that I don't want. I was like NO! He wants to clear the water key -.- Haha, is it even possible? It started raining half way. We had sectionals from 9-10am. I asked Darryl if March 'Blue Sky' can play an octave lower, since trumpets are playing too, he say if I want. And I want. Because the notes so high, later the next part trombone-only (I think) part I cannot play. We went through all 3 songs. Sometimes I wish I wasn't junior, weird right? Of course I prefer to be junior. But if I was senior I can tell them to practise properly. Half way, Cheng Heng suddenly tell me "Rebecca jie guo, wo yao tiao jin qu (band room)" cos we just outside. He jump in so easily eh. He play guitar? Anyway, at 10am we combined. Cliff & Brayton conduct, take turns. When we play MBS it sounded so horrible la. Just cos Cliff tell tubas to play louder cos the woodwinds very loud, then they start blasting and everyone start blasting. Seriously, if it was SYF we get COP (Certificate Of Participation). If it was Founder's Day (which is supposed to be), the guest all go deaf -.- At 11am + I think, we got break. Go McDonald's eat then back to school to change. My shoes so loose, stuff socks still so loose. Then we go back and started tuning. But then girls go toilet to put ribbon on the hair, then I miss my tuning. I really stuff till v tight then shoes won't come out, but painful! I'm the last to get ribbon, and most troublesome too. My hair band is furry one, then Shu Yan lent me hers and help me tie and put ribbon. Thanks :) By the time I went back, my seniors tune alr, and I missed tuning -.-

At SCH, we were first this time, last time was Dunearn first. Actually we sat one seat spacing, then later Mr Yeo asked 'Darryl & Rebecca sit towards Cheng Heng' so now there's no one seat in between. There was one of his friends (don't know who) giving comments to help him decide where the sections sit to have a better sound. He said something (couldn't really hear) ".....if not the trombones will be like blablabla (the sound)." Nothing much, after an hour, we left. That's it.

Today, Founder's Day Rehearsal. Report to the hall first at 8.30am. Dar earlier than me. I wore the band uniform here, but school shoes, then I changed my shoes in the hall. We were briefed then we went upstairs. We brought our stands and files downstairs (so that when it's our turn to perform we just come in without them) then back up to practise and wait for our turn. We played A Monmouth Overture and March 'Blue Sky'. I think Dar forgot some parts in MBS, for CH I not sure. I remember everything, haha! Then we went downstairs and rehearsed. I think I'm cool because I hold my trombone up 90 degrees (or more)! :D Why ah, Dar, your positiong different from mine at the melody? Melody all got the same notes eh. After that while CO (the last item) was still performing, we went back into the hall behind to wait for debrief or something. They said we need a 2nd rehearsal, this time it'll be a fast one because the planning isn't very good. So we had break until 1.15pm from ...I forgot, I think about 12.40pm. I went to the Kopitiam at Tampines Mart then after lunch, went back to the hall the take my instrument. And then went upstairs to the band room. The store room door couldn't open, haha. Cheng Heng managed to open it, I go keep my wallet and hp. Darryl went off :( They said we should end about 2. But then we wait until 3.45pm or later then we got called down. And there's no one there, all waiting. No wonder so long, after one group perform it's not immediately the next group. Don't know waiting for what. Founder's Day itself will be one after another not like that! In between so much time -.- Then we just play MBS from part I (last part) then finish. And they ask us to take off the plastic from the chairs -.- CH and I was so pissed. And he started scolding (not me of course). Then finally we went back and dismissed. I should have left while waiting so long. Bye.

Band practice

Do you still think the above sentence is true? Band practice today at 1.30pm. Sec 1s practice earlier at 8am, none of my section (including me) came. Only one junior came, new one. So now I have 3 juniors. On Saturday I thought I heard Cliff telling Ms Leong there's a new one in trombone and I thought I heard wrongly. You know who the heck he is?! Ding Cong from my class!! WTF! When Sandy told me Ding Cong is in my section I was like ??? I thought she's linking the junior to him, maybe he's black or something. Or maybe his name is Ding Cong. She never say properly htf would I know. Took her o long to say 'Ding Cong join band and he's in your section'. WTF my junior is my classmate. That's not the ridiculous part although it's ridiculous. The ridiculous part is he's FREAKING SHORT! Why is Ms Leong putting all these 3 unlikely people here?! First, George (the one Darryl dislikes) managed to play an F but sound is not nice. 2nd one, short. 3rd one short. -.-''' You think I hate Ding Cong -.- You asked me why I hate him. I said short, but I wasn't answering your question. Then you said so I shorter than you then you hate me ah? I shorter than (someone) then (someone) hate me ah? I said ya, but again I wasn't answering your question. You asked what makes me so sure he hates me -.- (Someone) does not hate me ok, what is your problem?! Then I said his hands are short which is true. And you chose not to believe me. You ask Larry (same class also) and he said very short. And you believed. So you'd rather not believe one of your own? You're the one who's always lying, it should be the other way round. I never lie, and you hate me so much you wouldn't believe on anything I say is it? Fine, if you hate me it's your problem not mine. You actually used hating me as an example? Then don't blame me, blame yourself because it's your fault. You started it. Don't blame me. If I don't believe you, it's your problem.

Band practice today was quite boring. All the way till 3pm my section was doing nothing much. Oh ya, we didn't do warm up today. We're about to start when Mr Yeo came and wanted us to play Monmouth when he knows we haven't warmed up, haha. After that Overture No. 1. Me & Cheng Heng decided on when to lift up and put down instruments but he didn't keep to it today. And Darryl doesn't even know. I had no (or little) bad luck on Friday the 13th, and I have bad luck today. I don't think it's just luck by the way. Or maybe it is, just my luck to have this nightmare which I can never wake up from and sigh and say "It was just a dream" because it's not. I can only hope strongly that things will change for the better. Playing trombone with an ulcer in my mouth and a blister on my lip (caused my mouthpiece) is so not easy. Before we went on to Overture No. 1 there was a 5min break. After practice, LR was funny. Cliff ask LR about tomorrow (going to SCH after practice for SYF rehearsal) He asked "When do you wanna change (to band uniform)?" LR"What has it got to do with the band when I want to change? You all wanna see me change?" Haha! Then he went to the front and talk. He told us the arrangement, "practice until ... then you all go and change, wear your stockings (doing some funny action). The guys..." Chen Hua interrupts "The guys' stocking what colour?" Haha! Cliff said "You wear stockings la!" Haha! After that we dismissed, past 4pm already. Bye.

Band practice

Band practice today! Warm up, then sectionals all the way. I don't feel tired after warm ups today. Maybe because I didn't 'blast so loud' (like what Darryl said a few days ago). Finally, we didn't slack today... at least before the break. Now we have 3 songs to practise. March 'Blue Sky' also, for Founder's Day. I don't know why we can't play Overture No. 1. We're playong Monmouth too. After break he start slacking again la -.- Anyway, we put our trombones on the table in a very cool way. Look at this!

Band practice & Founder's Day rehearsal

Band practice today! Actually it's Founder's Day rehearsal. I went upstairs very early. Xue Qi came later so only the 2 of us there and we did homework. Then the 4R1 people came. Cliff go climb through the window, haha. Then I said we (me & XQ) so hardworking then Darryl came and say wah so hardworking, haha! "I know, I just said that." Then later Cheng Heng climb out the window, I didn't even know he was here until then. Then later, Jaslyn open the other door (nearer to me & XQ) and suddenly "Hello." haha! At 3pm we went in. We went to the hall first and sat in concert order on the floor and did nothing. I didn't even know why we're there. I think to set up chairs but only needed some people. Cheng Heng go sit with other people, then left me and Dar. Then never talk one, so I go to Serene & CJ to see Serene's phone and get 2 songs from her. I found out she's Christian. Then Dar also go sit with other people. (I 'abandoned' him, haha).

Then go upstairs again and do warm up. Oops oops, Dar how can you be so careless :( Now you have to use the bass trombone with stuck water key, haha. I didn't con you 2 because you 2 know I'm using tenor -.- CH say CY say they bully me, haha. He's like "You tell her one right?" "She found out herself!" Haha. After warm up, we went downstairs to hall. We're not using the stage eh, we beside the stage to the left of it. Guzheng on the other side. Trombone and trumpet (4th row) stand up, yay! Cliff conduct, we play Overture No. 1 too. I thought Monmouth only. CH, you also, how can you be so careless? The instrument is precious! The Media Club take our pic eh! Right beside me :O haha. I think... today was... unlucky, but somewhat fun too. Bye! Band practice tomorrow! :D

Band practice

♫♪I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!♪♫

Band practice on Tuesday and Sec 1s' practice on Wednesday (yesterday). Wednesday none of them came, but valid reason. Mr Tall was rehearsing for a debate on Wednesday. Chinese debate of course. And the act cute baby not in school -.- So I was so emo and lonely. Actually I sat at my place, then half way during warm up, I go sit at Darryl's place. Then I go take bowl then when I come back I sat at CH's place accidentally haha! Then in the end I went back to my place. And I also can't see Mr Yeo because of Brayton's head -.- Then the trombone solo at part I of Overture No. 1, I went too fast. Starting of Overture No.1 where I have the crescendo, Mr Yeo asked me not to play so loud cos it's sounds a bit wild. :O What does that mean??? After Overture No. 1, A Monmouth Overture. There was a short break but I forgot when. Nothing much... no sectionals... and since I'm the only one, nothing much happened. Oh yes, we were dismissed earlier than usual, at slightly past 6pm. The band blog says practice ends at 6.30pm. Since when? It's always been 6 -.- Shucks, if 6.30pm then I'll reach home so late!

Wednesday practice, Darryl 'pangseh' me -.- even though he came. Oh yes, he actually said hi to me??? I really don't like his attitude, and he won't read this though he has access. The junior that he don't like didn't come, but the transfer one came. Very short eh! Why Ms Leong go put all those very unlikely ones in my section?! 1 sound not nice, 1 too short. Like what Ms Leong said, he is blur, but not 'a bit', it's a lot -.- In the end I did practise a bit. I'm starting to dislike you a bit by the way. Oh, and playing other instruments is against the Band Rules! Your embouchure will change! You can be quite irritating and you're totally unfathomable! It rained. Bye!
