Band practice
♫♪I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!♪♫Band practice today. At 8am we went upstairs and set up instruments. Kevin was very late, but I knew he would come, because he told me yesterday when I asked. No warm ups, if there's any, it's during sectionals. Me & Jaslyn both alone so we warm up together. Then I sat on the table (like what Kevin does) then about 8.40 or so, he came. But we didn't practise together although we're physically together. Is he having depression or what? Last Saturday also like that. SYF is in 1 month's time! Nearing the end of practice, we combined outside the room. First with the wind players, Monmouth twice. Heheh, I stand in for Darryl at some parts. Because it's melody and it's soft, so I play his part. Then we combined with Percussion also. They're inside but we're outside. Know how we combine? They open the door and the windows, haha! Overture No. 1 first, I also stand in for Darryl at one part, although there's another part, trombone solo, their rhythm same but mine different. I think it's Kevin's solo, but Darryl says it's Kevin and him so ok. But I didn't play his part because I think melody is first trombone only. Aarrghh! I wish Darryl can come on Saturday! And he's gonna graduate already! Saturday still cannot see him :( But I'm sure he will come back :) Bye.Labels: Band, Graduation, Seniors, Trombone

AT FIRST SIGHT MARKS ONES' DESTINY, 7:15 PM
♫♪I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!♪♫Yesterday was band exchange programme at our school auditorium with Dunearn Military Band, Greenridge Symphonic Band (both under Mr Yeo too), Teck Whye Concert Band, Woodlands Ring Military Band & Queenstown Concert Band! :D We came at 8am and warm up and practised before they came. They used classrooms to warm ups and Sec 4s brought them here. They all settled down ater 9am. Very full, so some of us had to take their place when they go on stage then when they come back we shift to the next band's place when they go on stage. But our section didn't need, haha. The band leaders drew lots to see who will play first. Liang Rong got last. So 1st: Teck Whye 2nd: Queenstown 3rd Woodlands Ring 4th Dunearn 5th Greenridge 6th Ngee Ann. I'm not sure about the 2nd & 3rd, I think it's like this. First round we play the set piece and our choice piece.Dunearn's choice piece is Pecos Pueblo, the song they played at the exchange at Greenridge Sec. That time we played Novena. Their song's longest, quite good. During Overture No. 1 part B the semiquavers I could hear very clearly, and it's a slur also. So good, they can tongue so fast and it's soft tonguing too. They only got 3 trombonists too, haha. Opposite us, 2 girls one guy and the guy is bass trombonist, haha. So coincidental. I recognise him.
Before we went up, Darryl & CH emptied saliva first in the bowl. We can't keep the bowl on stage. But I emptied on stage before we started haha. Then Darryl look at me. I also did that the day before he never say anything. Shucks, I messed up the first few notes of my melody at B for Overture No. 1 which was so easy! Arghhh! And at A Monmouth Overture our melody somewhere at 112 was messy. I wanted to record but then when I pressed the button the light came on and never record -.- The light has to be on first or else any button will just turn it on -.- i asked Darryl how he played, he said 150 was a success. But 150 is easy... Then he go high 5 CH then CH said "So loud for what? Idiot" -.- After that was break.
Cai Yan was here! Before we started CH said Cai Yan is in the first row but me & Darryl couldn't see her. Chen Hua go put his instrument at my place -.- Then I got nowhere to put mine. Then Cai Yan call me so I just put it beside his which is a bit blocking the way. So sweet, she gimme present! ^_^ I've never gotten anything on Valentines' Day, first one heheh. Got flower, chocolate and a paper :)There was some food at the canteen, cool. Like tarts and drink but I didn't eat, haha, cos I go toilet then about time already. 10min break only, cos we're behind time. When we go back, 2nd round play choice piece only. This time I managed to record. And I played well! :D But soft even at my melody :( At least I hit the right notes there... I asked Darryl how he played, he's satisfied.
Then the schools started leaving, Sec 4s went to see them off. We started clearing the things on stage. One guy came to me and gave me a present. He said "Ngee Ann Trombone Section. This is from our section, (something something) section." He was mumbling so I couldn't hear the school and section but should be trombone section too. I said thank you and no idea why he said thank you back. So nice of their section :) I got a lot of sweets from band people later, haha, even those I'm not close to and don't talk to.

Determination to succeed
♫♪I love NAS, Concert Band, Trombones and my seniors!!♪♫I have to work harder and push myself. I have to perfect everything everytime. I can't play badly once and go "Most of the time I can play but somehow not today." I must play well every single time, it has to be "I can always play well and I never play badly."My downfall has already happened once in Genting, and it's because "most of the time I can play but somehow not that day" and that was the day that mattered most. History cannot repeat itself, ever. If I don't make it perfect everytime, the one time I play badly could just be the most important day. How well I played during rehearsals before that does not matter anymore. Once I mess up, it's over. It's the end. It'll be too late to regret, or blame it on bad luck. I've experienced it, I've gone through the heartache, I've shed the tears, it must never happen again. This SYF Central Judging, I must play better. I will work harder. Band practice & Marching video

31 January 2009 Friday
Band practice today! Sec 4s have test. We were practising March 'Together' for the marching video later. I shouldn't have worn the new uniform. Cheng Heng say later in the video all wear the same, only got one different one. Then I said Xue Qi also wear new uniform. Then he say then got 2 only. Should put light there, *ding!* " Haha! Later the Sec 4s came. Darryl didn't come, for some reason. We played sitting first. We played with our eyes closed! Cool, esp because it's trombones! :D Then while marching on the spot. Some people don't know how to march -.- It's just a simple left right left right, yet they can't get it right. At first Mr Yeo wanted to add a B flat at the end of where we stop but canceled. So we went downstairs and took the marching video. So many extras in the background -.- And a disgusting arrangement of the instruments. I'm not even with Cheng Heng -.- Horrible.
After that we went back upstairs to play A Monmouth Overture. Very talkative, haha. Bye!

Clean & polish trombones today! :D Yesterday and Monday no school because it's CNY, so no band practice yesterday :( My whole section came! So hardworking! :D Darryl is "evil senior"? Nah... After we set up we went out and clean.I don't know which oil to put where and everything :( If I become Section Leader like this, I'll need to call him back when we clean trombones. Then suddenly Cheng Heng pop his head out the store room window and said hello. Darryl also thought he wasn't coming. Faris was with us too, helping clean the inside of the slide. I didn't know slide need to put cream... And I don't know the names of the creams/oils/liquids. There's a pink liquid! For the 2 tuning slides. I never touch the 2nd tuning slide before. I polish my trombone.! :D After that supposed to be sectionals according to SL DL but very boring, no sectionals. I go out and practise myself. Inside so damn noisy and irritating. Then CH came out and asked me to go in for combined in Overture No. 1. After that A Monmouth Overture. "Trombone so loud!" So after that, it was about 4.30pm. I kept my instrument and left.
