Let's talk about Sec 3 KOREF camp 2010! From 20-22 January we had camp at Kahang Organic Rice Eco Farm (Malaysia).
22 Jan We had briefing in the hall from 7 until 8.30am and got the yellow camp T shirt. Went we left the hall I saw people outside (waiting for assembly until 8.30? Assembly's at 8 :O) I saw Kevin and wave at him (First time ah? :D) I actually said "hi :)" very softly but he said bye bye, haha! Oh I missed him during camp. (Actually 20-22 is Wed - Fri, also no band what) I sit with Camilia in the bus everyday. We reached KOREF and set up tents. Like what Kevin told me la, canteen beside hall then the sleeping area outside. After lunch, went to rice field. They help weed but I didn't cos I got injury, since that Tuesday after band -.- We went to visit a "Pak Cik" who's 84 years old in the kampong. On the way there, I love the water apple leave smell. I held on until we returned to campsite. His house is small and simple but strong enough to fit 2 classes on the platform. Run back to camp in the rain. Only at night then can bathe. They didn't even let us change! After that ah... nothing much. Bathing and sleeping sucks.
21 Jan I woke up the latest in my tent, yay. Purposely! Ok? Changed to my tights for the trekking later. Woo so tight, I'm the only one, haha. After breakfast we took bus to Gunung Lambak. Walao! Why can't we group with 3C2?!!!! :( During the whole camp I hardly even saw Samuel. (I had one senior and one junior with me in camp, so special right?) I think 3C2 went when it was dark :O Heh, very funny. We climbed for quite long and tired alr then they said "Reaching soon! Reaching! ... Starting point!" "?!?!?!" haha! The trek to the start was harder than the trek up from the start, really. The trek down was... scary. I think I have phobia of falling now. It's been 2 weeks since that fall now. During camp it was 1 week. I didn't fall, heng. I kept thinking of Kevin during the trek you know! What run up and down the mountain, then climb the whole mountain never sweat. He Superman is it?! Toward the end of going up I got tired, before that was ok. I keep on "I want my senior...! I want my senior...!" Aiya... If Kevin was here he'd be right in front, but if I ask him to help he surely would! :( We had lunch (I ate 2 bananas!) and went back to camp. We had water activities. I wanted to cry before rafting and almost completely let go and cry (I was starting alr) but then they ask us to form a circle and we played game while waiting (not enough life vests) so I didn't cry. I'm pitying myself for not being able to get into the water. Kevin told me only 2 people need to go on the raft, I thought per class. It's 2 people per raft, everyone. We played whacko. When they finished, it rained. We went in to discuss for class skit for campfire. They were doing class cheer and I was doing emo time. Now cannot cry alr! But almost la, one drop. Ms Poh took me aside to talk to me. She said if I want I can go, but after that just look for teacher to help change my dressing. I think she told Ms Low too. After that it was water obstacle course. Yay! I went eh, but starting only, cos halfway got lightning so must come back. Walao I climbing the net, going to cross over then cannot -.- Tsk. I never cross net before eh! I was dry. Then we go bathe. Xiao, we were last I think. They keep on "F7 hurry up!" I never hear them call other cubicle. Then one guy I think Sec 4 student leader go put the loud hailer above the door and shout at me and Camilia. Actually share for what? Still must wait what, idiot. I was bathing I thought why suddenly so loud, turn and see loud hailer on the door wtf?! Haha! Started raining alr, rush to the hall (which is just beside) without towel drying my hair -.- Luckily got dinner and long campfire until 11+ Every class do their cheer and some got performance. Ours was lame. Molestation skit. 3C2 sang Fall For You and one play guitar! Aww, nice :) But where's Samuel? Cannot find. Then we do cheers and SLs, teachers and facilitators perform. Hmm I sat beside Cui Yi and he quite caught my attention. His features are striking but I think it's not cos he's from China. He also feel like sleeping, haha. Being friends with him will improve my Chinese, he only speaks Chinese (but learn English of course). Never heard a word of English from him... Finally sleep time. Thanks to clever clever Shi Ying (that's me by the way) we had more space to sleep. It was a very basic arrangement actually. First day was idiotic.
22 Jan Rain again, first thing in the morning. Everyday rain. Luckily by the time I get ready to go out it stopped, haha, see? Go brush teeth so early for what? Ha. After breakfast we do CIP. 3R1 clean the boys side, 3R3 clean the girls side. Eee, got underwear (and socks) lying around everywhere. Rubbish and wasps. Ew. After that we played game all the way. Whacko! Double whacko! Yong Jie stood behind me and we stayed like that for the whole game. Hardly anyone call me but when they did he call another one quickly. So I'm safe. Once, someone said Shi Yun and he called someone else then 'eh?' Then I told him about the Shi Yun and Shi Ying. Once Andrew go call me Rebecca then Francoise the whacker come in front of me but never whack as if waiting for a name then Yong Jie go "Rebecca?" then I think he "whack" me. 3R1 was like "Shi Ying la..." We also play the game, stand in a circle then squat and sit on each other's lap and do class cheer. Not painful one. We had telematch with charade and broken telephone. Our message got distorted. Then play whack (single) again. The student leader called Rebecca, (how does he even know the name) then again they're like "Shi Ying...!" Then lunch and go home! :D Some class reached at 5+ we reach at 6+ -.- In the end, there's no band today so no difference. Haiya I wanted to go band!

Band practice today. I don't like today, especially practice time. Surprised ah? It's not surprising, expected. I ate with Serene and her friend. Actually I didn't eat with Serene because I had to go take height and weight and by the time I came back she finished. Then her friend came soon. I don't know her name though I talked to her, haha. Chong Jin came later with the scores that she just photocopied. I did a few Maths questions with the help of Serene and Chong Jin. At about 2 or 2+ Kevin sat at the table behind mine at the canteen. (I was there for so long, today do work there instead my usual spot) I saw a blue basketball with his bag. Never seen a blue one with a red line o.o I went up at about 2.15. Oh by the way, Kevin was doing his work at the canteen eh! I think Maths also, same as the one Serene was doing. I think he came slightly late or just on time, not sure, didn't check.
I helped Kevin set up stand again while he went to wash mouthpiece. And I said "here" for him during attendance while he was out too :) Andrew and Rebekah were drenched as it was raining... Chong Jin gave out the photocopied scores, have to help my juniors keep. Andrew conducted warm ups today, 2nd time only, for an assistant student conductor, haha. Chromatic Low Tones and Total Training. I had to keep stopping. After warm ups we tuned. I was FLAT. I pushed in the tuning slide all the way. Result of the metal in my mouth la, huh? Mr Yeo and Ms Leong were both not coming so they asked if Mr Yu was coming. He came today, didn't check what time. He did tuning again, I couldn't get the high B flat. Then I really cried. I just bend down and rest on my Trombone and cried so hard I was shaking like quite obviously and my hand and face was so wet. Kevin took some time to notice, probably he too tall cannot see or what la. Think he bend to see if I was crying then he turn behind to tell Rebekah, she asked why and he said he don't know. Mr Yu asked all the brasses to play and I didn't get up to play. But he probably didn't see me cos if he did he would call me. Then Rebekah and Mavis came beside me and asked me to go out but I was sobbing so hard I didn't feel like moving, so I sat there a while more. Mr Yu asked all the brasses to play B flat again, but this time he did notice, probably cos Rebekah and Mavis were there. He asked what happened and I can guess that the whole band turned around. I can hear Chen Hua call Kevin. Then I guess that he gestured to me as a form of asking why. I only know this slacking band too well. They told me to go out again, and only then I did. I felt like I was disturbing them by being there :S They went out with me and Mavis sat at the table with me, my favourite spot now I've also cried there. I took a few minutes to stop and stabilise. She asked if I wanna go home and rest, but I still went back in for practice. I think they thought it was because my mouth pain. It is, but it's my heart pain that I cry for. It's more painful than my mouth. Mr Yu asked if I was ok when I went back in.
It's ok, I don't mind them knowing I cried. It's the 4th time. Twice a year, hopefully never again, especially in Sec 4, because that's SYF year. Then we did Big Bands Playing Folk Songs. Then we did sectionals. My favourite spot was used by Rebekah and Mavis, practising on the table with their sticks. So we were beside them. We only practised that song. Kevin also needed help on a bit of rhythm on page 2, haha. When Tutor came, he asked if I had any problems, want to share. I thought for a while how to phrase it, in the end I just said "Heart pain lor". Then he asked us to play from bar 67 Skip To My Lou. (Hahaha, remember Wednesday?) I managed to play all the way till the end although a few wrong notes, yay. He asked Kevin why his rhythm so bad, I think he said his mouth pain so sometimes when he try to play to high notes no sound come out. Huh? Tutor asked why I suddenly put braces and whether it's I want or my parents want. He said I was improving on my sound then now got this he don't know how to teach already. I thought he would know, because he's a tutor? What will Suky say if I tell her this? Kevin slacked after we played together to the end. I think we didn't finish the last few bars eh, forgot. I also slacked, sorry. Mavis came out of the room and asked if I saw the other Rebekah. (She always says the other Rebekah when she asks me, haha) I said no. Then later Rebekah came out of the room, Kevin and me look at each other like ?? Then I told her she came out of that room. ?! Haha!
We went back in to combine. Thanks Germaine for asking and consoling me. Rebekah wasn't inside and Mr Yu asked where she was. Mavis said she was outside resting cos she not feeling well. Why everyone not well today, esp Rebekah and Rebecca, one physically one emotionally. Later he asked for band leader, and asked for her name. Haha, expected response "Oh, 2 Rebecca". What time's practice supposed to end, why teachers say 5.30 when we know it's 6? Mr Yu has a different way of ending practice. Mr Yeo and Ms Leong end after the whole band play together. Mr Yu ended after he asked one section to play, and they never play properly. Supposed to be after they play properly but he knew it was gonna take forever I think, so he just ended. Today I asked Kevin to wash bowl, very long since he did huh? And thanks Serene for asking if I'm ok. When we keeping instruments Kevin wanna open the cupboard door then he tell Jaslyn 头 so many times, ask her to watch her head. Then when he open then she shock and ah! or something -.- She didn't know he was talking to her until that happened. Haha! I checked the 2 bronze bass trombones cos I wanna bring back, so see which one nicer. When Kevin came in again I said just now he tell her 头 she don't understand eh. Then his right hand point to his left hand and he say 头是这个 WAHAHA! I took BT2. I couldn't fit my file into my bag so I cleverly took out the pockets of the songs I wanna practise. Argh, Jaslyn at first said she wanna bring back then later don't want. Kevin say too loud he can't stand it, haha. I play in the room and close the door even. No need to sign out cos the system changed. Serene was supposed to make a card to write the serial no. and she sign but not made yet. Bye bye...
Band practice yesterday. Kevin was so fun (funny)!! Since there were some Sec 1s at my usual spot, I sat at the table on the other side of the corridor, outside the sports hall door, to do my Chinese and Maths. Jaslyn came along. I just realised, that day there was Chinese Composition SA2 exam and I brought the E-dictionary, but I didn't use it when I was using Chinese homework -.- I forgot. Slightly past 2.30pm we went in. Kevin's lessons end at 2.30pm as usual, so during the warm ups it was just me and the juniors. Before the warm ups I tried playing, the first time after putting braces. B flat's normal, C... URGH! What kind of sound is that?! Yuck, it sounds worst than my first day playing Trombone in Sec 1 when Darryl Kor Kor taught me. It's got the "rrrr" sound but not like what I said I did in Genting last year, it's a LOT worse of course. And that's not the only not, of course... It sounded disgusting. Ms Leong came just as we were gonna start. We warmed up with Chromatic Low Tones only. I think it's obvious that I was playing yuckily. The embouchure is not the same, and for the first few minutes there was a lot of saliva in my mouthpiece, so I wiped it frequently. And it's painful on my mouth (not teeth) because the metals pressing my mouth. I almost cried (not because pain obviously), naturally. Just after we finished, Mr Yeo came. Haha, before and after.
Kevin came late. He and Chen Hua were the latest to come, they're supposed to be here latest by 3.15pm (45mins for lunch) , they came at... I forgot, but definitely 3+ before 3.55. Because that's when we started sectionals. Chong Jin gave out the originals of Big Bands Playing Folk Songs. There's no 3rd trombone, haha, too bad. So uneven la, 1 1st and 3 2nd -.- After that then Kevin came. I told him I can't play properly with braces and it's worse than when I was Sec 1. "Wth...?" was his reaction... Mr Yu shortly after Mr Yeo, yay! I thought he'd be coming today anyway. Mr Yeo wrote some rhythms from the song on the board and we count it. Haha! Kevin count out the tied notes when they're not supposed to be counted. E.g. "n 2 n" is all in one note so we only count n then he go count the 2. Once, Mr Yeo: Who was the one who counted (the number) so loudly? I thought Kevin wasn't gonna admit but he did :O He kept counting out those that shouldn't be counted out then "WHY I KEEP.....?!?!" Haha! Funny! :D After the rhythms, we tried playing the song. After playing the 2nd note G and mispitched, I stopped already. The song's easy. I pointed at my braces and shook my head to tell Kevin I can't play, then Tutor saw too. I think he told Ms Leong. Haiz. At 3.55pm Mr Yeo told us to go sectionals until 5.15 and Mr Yu and Ms Leong will go to everyone to help. I think that's when Mr Yeo left.
Tutor told Kevin to find a spot and lead his section. Can't go to our favourite spot because there's oral in the classroom block. We still couldn't find, so Tutor chose the spot beside our usual spot. Same part of the corridor, haha, but nobody went beyond us. Mr Yu said Kevin'll teach Ben and I teach DC, tall with tall, and short with short -.- Since he and Ms Leong has to help the whole band today, he didn't have so much time with us, so we didn't play scales, haha, HENG... I thought him the first page. I practiced the 1st page and "Careless Love" from the 2nd page. I didn't do Skip To My Lou. There are 4 songs in the music, in order, Little Brown Jug, Michael Row Your Boat Ashore (our melody throughout! Yes!), Careless Love and Skip To My Lou. In pri 2 Catechism class in school I heard Michael Row Your Boat Ashore, still remember the tune, haha. It's obviously not a folk song, it's a Christian song! How can religious songs be folk songs? Kevin only taught Ben till bar 4 NOT because he's teaching sucks (he taught me last year too, and my teaching can't be better than his) but because Ben's skills are such that he can only be taught 4 bars after 1h20min. I made DC repeat when he play wrongly. There's nothing difficult in the song, the notes and rhythms are easy. Dynamic are all f except Michael Row Your Boat Ashore is ff because it's our melody haha! Will we finally really get to play ff as it's written? Everytime we have it we can't play it, irritating la -.- Just because of other people we cannot play ff. (If I can) I will blast this part and make Kevin blast with me. Tutor came a few times to check on us. I heard him say Kevin cannot play. If one more time cannot then must ask me to help already, haha.
Before we went back in to combine. I teach both of them :O Kevin was slacking with Chen Hua and Jonathan for a few minutes. I follow what Darryl Kor Kor does. Stand in front of them and clap tempo. Ben's lagging behind DC and the whole band like crazy. I think he's not suitable for band. Mr Yu came and called us back in (by whistling??) At one part, we and the horny people have the same rhythm. Mr Yu asked then to play, they played wrong. Then he asked us to play, I played right rhythm one or two wrong notes. Ben wrong rhythm, don't know about Kevin and DC. Mr Yu told the horny people to show us what it's like. Then the whole section play same rhythm but it's WRONG and he didn't say anything. He thought it was correct, OMG! It's so obviously wrong la. 1 count, 1.5 count, 1 count, 1 count in that bar. Starts with n count from previous bar. They played 1.5 count, 1 count. 1 count, 1 count. -.-"' Hello, for goodness sake, it's (tie) n1 (tie) n2n, 3, 4. Yeah, so much for showing us what it's like, show us how wrong they can play, some more whole section. And I'm not pissed off by Mr Yu asking them to show us FYI. Ok, the funny part you've been reading so long for: I asked Kevin if he knows the songs (in the music) Then he read out, I only heard from here "...... Ashore?...... Careless Love?....... Skip My Lau?!" Me: (silently) wtf...wtf....HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! After I managed to reduce laughing silently (can't laugh out loud right?) I told him it's not Lau, it's pronounced as "l-o-o". HAHA! Steering back to the music, he asked us to play till the first ending which I thought is at the repeat sign in Michael Row Your Boat Ashore, then Kevin told me it's bar 33. I said it stops just before our melody, then he go "Awwwwwww..." SO CUTE! :D Haha! First time he like that, why ah?? Anyway, that's the bar with pick up to our melody, nothing indicates it's a first ending. But true enough we stopped there, because it was messed up. Again, but this time I was ready to play my melody and true enough Mr Yu looked at us, haha, yay! I think I was the only one playing, why they never play la! I played everything correct, even notes, haha, YES! Then we stopped at that first ending, I was right. After we thanked him and Ms Leong. Kevin ask me to show him my fingernails. (Suddenly ask this, puzzled me. I think he saw cos earlier he bend forward and staring at don't know what for quite long) Then he taught me some guitar stuff. Awwwwwwww..... haha. By the time he finished, I noticed everyone go in and keep instruments already. He had to stay back because he was late (punishment) and he's Section Leader. It was dark outside. It rained soon, but stopped before I had to walk home after alighting the bus. Bye :) His family go out for dinner, I ask then how he eat dinner. He said ask them buy back, and he play computer games in the mean time, lol. "You haven't started studying?" Haven't, because... "Because you clever" "-Where got clever?" "Clever. Cleverer than me" "Of course" lol. some subjects haven't finished teaching all the chapters, after finish covering all the chapters then he study.
Band practice. I was quite early. Rebekah opened the band room but the store room was locked, probably done by the CO -.- When it was open I went to set up. And when I went out to set up I heard Rebekah say already 8 o'clock why nobody here? Very few la actually. She say all late stand outside. Then Mavis say why not think of a harsher punishment. "Ok then they all jump down and die" -.o ? Anyway, they came at 8.11am, including Kevin. I didn't know it was raining till he came in with his umbrella, which I recognise from the last time he brought it some months ago or last year. Good memory eh? :D Again Ms Leong came when we're doing Chromatic Low Tones halfway, then Total Training. Mr Yeo didn't come. We had combined practice until 9.37am. Actually she wanted us to go for sectionals and come back at that time, but we did The Incredibles and Ponyo until then. She went faster than Mr Yeo for both songs. Taufiq came today also, after quite long cos he go NS alr. Got once Ms Leong ask those who have melody at D to play, a few times. Then later she say what those with triplets without long notes (or something like that) play. Kevin was oiling his slide then I didn't play also. 2nd time I still didn't play. Then Ms Leong ask why we never play, and say "dare not play because you're alone is it?" Haha. During the break, Kevin went out as usual, I stayed as usual. I went to take Heal The World from Darryl's file.
After that, Ms Leong split us into brasses and woodwinds except trumpets stay with woodwinds. We used music room with Taufiq on Ponyo. Then went back slightly before 11am. Ms Leong was doing the part that we last did also, haha. Then we combined.
At slightly past 11am Cliff and Darryl (reminds me of Chip & Dale) came, wearing the same shirt and their own pants not school one, I think class t shirt. When Kevin saw them he said "Couple. Couple shirt" HAHAHA! I thought Darryl got tuition. Anyway, their shirt looks nicer than my class', it's gold and white. Anyway, we went for sectionals on Heal The World and Ms Leong and Taufiq left. We used our usual spot but I can't sit cos there's a bag on the bench that I step on when I sit on the table. I taught myself and I only had a few minutes and they want me & Kevin play together. A while later, we went into the music room. I notice when Darryl comes, the 2 of them slack eh. He come back and slack and make junior slack also -.- Then very slacky inside. We never play together already and some idiot spraying deodorant like air freshener, yuck! Couldn't stand it anymore, seeing my seniors slack and talk and the smelly air inside. (I think Darryl thinks I don't like him, I DON'T don't like him. I like him. That's why he's still my Darryl Kor Kor. I like them all...) I went out to another spot away from everyone's view (cos it's round the corner) to practise myself. Ya, I learnt the whole thing. I played other songs too. At about 12 I heard Rebekah call us back in so I went. She asked us to bring back file so I did.
Oh ya, Kevin's like a baby eh, haha. Today he drank water then after he take away the bottle from his mouth, got water come out from his mouth. -.o?
I bet Darryl thinks I'm weird now, that's why he never talk to me. Haiz, I wasn't intending to do that last night, I only wanted to ask why he not playing in the performance anymore. Why did I even say that? ... -.- What I said shouldn't be true, although it is. Ya, I know it's just me, I'm weird. Can't you just act like I didn't say that?
After practice, I went 7-11 at Tampines Mart with Jaslyn. At the road I turned back to check for cars then saw Darryl behind us some distance. I told her then I said "DON'T-!" (She looks back) "Look back" -.- And then the expected "...!!!...!!!" from me la. Haha, bye!
Long post, so don't bother to read. Yo! Had lunch with Serene, Germaine and Filzah after school since they saw me in the canteen. Then I went up to the band room. So much time, to do homework. My usual spot was occupied BY BAGS so I used the left side, which is outside the sports hall. It was raining, I was alone. Occasionally rain will splash in when wind blows in my direction. School ended at 12.30pm, I reached there 1+ only. So Science workbook out again. With no help, until Chong Jin came up, still 1+. So she helped me again. 3rd day alr. Later, but still 1+, Kevin and his non-band friend came and Kevin look at me I look at him, so I said "Hi" with a wave for the first time :) Haha, FIRST time... tsk tsk. They sat at the other table. Filzah came up and did her English for fun, it's not homework, haha. Yay, I finished my workbook, except for questions that CJ also doesn't know. I was doing workbook then Kevin suddenly go "REBECCA!" I got a shock, then I turn to him he ask if my handphone number start with 8 or 9, I said 9. I'm like ??? I help Filzah with ENGLISH ok! I'm good at it. The windows of the sports hall behind me opened, so I stood on the bench to look, basketball players. Today we used our band room :D Haha! There's a sign outside both doors asking CO people to use the music room today, HAHA!
At 2+ I went to the room to set up and stuff. Kevin happened to be out during attendance taking. So when "Cheng Heng" I said "Here" also, haha! Warm ups conducted by Germaine. Chromatic Low Tones first, Ms Leong came shortly after half way. Then Total Training. Mr Yeo came halfway, haha, which is about 3. Ponyo up first. I finally told Kevin he's playing F instead of C at our melody at part D. Then you know the song has one repeat in my score. First time got trail and go to D, second time no trail go to F. Then once we played C then after that I thought my melody I go trail. HAHAHA! Trail halfway stop. Then at F we got one bar rest. Kevin used that bar of rest to laugh at me. Then when we stopped, he continued laughing, I just say "Paiseh..." Hehheh.
We had a short break of about 10min from 4.20-4.30pm. I went to find Darryl's file. It's open in Kevin's cupboard. (Actually it's OUR cupboard, but Kevin use it, I use the other one) Kevin took Kokomo from there since he had it today. Then I go find The Incredibles score from there also. Haha, he graduate then we both take his scores :S I realised it's all the same no Trb 1 or 2 or 3. I tried it before, on a Saturday during break from Kevin's file xP After the break, it was Kokomo. I got reminded that Mr Yu wants me to tell him to prepare the When You Wish Upon A Star for the next time he comes when Kevin put his Kokomo in front of it. He said will come around 13 July (Monday) so I think it's Tuesday.
After that at 5+ we had sectionals on The Incredibles. Still, our usual spot (which is my usual spot stated above) has BAGS so we can't sit on the table. So we stand beside it. Woah, Kevin immediately wanna play together from the beginning alr. I say I haven't learn yet, then he ask me learn myself. Not difficult la. While Kevin was playing Darryl and Cliff walked past. I thought Kevin ignore him when he say hi. He say he got say hi, then go demo to me, LOL! He prefer using action than words I realised. We got 6 bar same rhythm from bar 7, then he playing and pointing, the one time he just waved. Lol? Yeah then Darryl came without a trombone and SORT OF teach us, but not really. Got one part I always stop there cos Kevin play wrong. It's 1.5, 0.5, 1 count. He play 1, 0.5, 0.5 and they both say last time play like that one. Kevin played slower and got it, but when Darryl clap, he play wrong again. Darryl, never got it. So every time reach there, I stop. Then Kevin ask Mr Yeo, I'm right...
Later he go set up a trombone and play. I realised got one bar is 2/4 time we play 4/4 so the 2 count become 4 count. When Darryl play he play 4 then I tell him. He say he know, just trying to get the rhythm only. (which doesn't make sense) Then when they play (without me) they both play 4. I call Cheng Heng and tell him. Then it's like he knows I wanna whisper something to him and he bend down :O I said Darryl say he know it's 2 count then he go play 4 count. Then he very naughty la, purposely go ask him to play. He's like why? But he still play. Then we grin but shut up. Then he still ask him to play again don't know for what. He don't wanna play, Kevin say that part is important! HAHA! But he didn't play again, he said he's not playing for the performance -.- And just yesterday he said he was. Just as well, I'll be less unhappy about no bass trombone. Then he went off, for his tuition of course. We went back in combined.
We went part by part, then play the whole song. Haha, Ms Leong beside me and noticed I lost at one part. Actually I stopped more than once la, but other times when I stop, I know but just not sure whether I'm right then scared to play, although Kevin play what I wanted to but didn't. Mr Yeo asked if we don't like Ponyo. Because we can't play that but we can play this and he thinks this is harder. Some said played before, he said Sec 2 never. Then he ask me if it's easy, I said slightly. Kevin say he don't like Ponyo, "too childish for me". "Who else doesn't like Ponyo aside from Cheng Heng" I wanted to say me, but didn't xP
When Kevin was keeping stand, one part was tight and he wanted to screw it loose. Then he broke his nail! :( Ask who got scissors. Serene heard and when he showed to Chen Hua, her face was like :S it's horrible, really broken :( Funny thing is that I broke mine yesterday at practice, haha! I just bit it off and now it's even, unlike the others which are pointed purposely. Then in the band room Kevin keeping stuff except his trombone then Jaslyn's senior go push him or something and he fell -.- Kevin said he caused his nail to bleed I think, or made it worse -.- Why fat people like pushing skinny people ah? Not funny right? I brought home Sesame Street to scan for Kevin cos there's only one. Gonna do it after this. Today I'm quite happy eh, except the part where Darryl came. No idea why. And I suddenly like Kevin more today also :) , maybe that's why, haha. As for this one, no idea, maybe cos Darryl spoil my mood but he didn't. Practice tomorrow, bye!

Band practice today! I went to put my bag outside Band Room. Only Serene was there, and soon Chong Jin came. Then I waited there, thinking where I should go for lunch, haha. Then I went to McDonald's to buy take-away. And it was raining, so I got wet while going there. And when I came back, the drizzle became heavier and I got wetter. Then I sat at the table and ate while doing my Chinese worksheet, which I didn't do a lot. Then after I finished eating we talked about band. Then Chong Jin took out the conductor's score (with all the instruments' parts) then Germaine came and they went to eat. Then I was all alone there. I read the score because I wanted to see 1st and 2nd Trombone part. Then at 1.40+ pm, Kevin and Chen Hua came to put their bags down. Then Chen Hua looked at the scores and said "哇，好用功哦" (Wah, so hardworking) Haha, actually I looked at the scores because I was curious. Then they went for lunch too. I didn't feel lonely. Then more people came later.
I set up our instrument then went to take chairs. This time there were chairs for my section, haha. I asked Germaine, who's Assistant Quarter Mistress, for slide oil then she went to ask Yi Hui. Then I went to 2R6 classroom to get chairs. Then Yi Hui came and say "Rebecca, you're under arrest." Hahaha! She asked "Is this the thing you want?" showing me a bottle of slide oil. Then I said I don't know, never seen before. Then she asked me something I couldn't really hear although she repeated and I didn't answer then Germaine said "Ask Darryl la!" Then I said" Er...ask Darryl la!" Haha! So I took the chairs and Germaine went to look for him. She went outside the Band Room but he wasn't there, then asked me. I said in the room, if not there (Band Room) means there (M Room). If not there (M Room) means there (Band Room). Haha, but he wasn't in the M-Learning Room too. Where did he go? Then she asked if anyone saw him then just then he appeared outside the M-Learning Room, haha. He went to the toilet to wash the mouthpiece, haha. Then I don't know about the oil already. Then when I went into the room, Kevin took his stuff and threw a bottle of oil (a different one) on the table? Obviously I didn't take it.
Brayton lead in warm-ups today because both Ms Leong and Mr Yeo weren't here. Mr Yeo came at 4pm while Ms Leong didn't come. Started with chromatic low tones then B flat Major scale. We tried March "Blue Sky" first thing. I managed to play more of the high notes than usual for the melody part! :D Good! If only every time we tried any song I could do that. Still couldn't reach some, but I reached those in front. Then we played Novena. I flipped to North Bay Vistas, haha! And only after the music started then I knew I was at the wrong page, haha! The 2 songs both start with rests for me. Then we stopped on the 2nd page. Then Cliff came. He was late because he had oral exam. He wanted to hear us at the slow part of the song, which I think we're not very good at. We tried the last part of the song which I never played before. So, not too good at it. Then Mr Yeo came.
Still on that part of the song. Then there's once he asked me to move my stand to my right, then asked me and Darryl hold our Trombones above the table. I heard a banging sound but didn't know what it was. Then my Trombone hit the table and had the same sound. I think it was Darryl's Trombone. Mr Yeo asked both of us to hold the Trombone above the table then Darryl's Trombone hit the table then my Trombone hit the table, haha! I had to tilt my head upwards when I was playing with the Trombone above the table! Am I too short? For playing like that maybe I am, but for playing Trombones, I'm not :D Head up while playing?! And the part he asked us to play was new to me. But when he asked Trombones and 2 other sections to play, I tried. Then the Trombones hit the table one is when he asked me and Darryl to play only. So when he say "1st note" or "next note" then Darryl played first then I follow, just to make sure. We play together, I mean he start first. So for every note in the 2 bars, he started first when Mr Yeo asked us to play. Then also another time, Mr Yeo asked me to make some hissing sound before I play but must use diaphragm to support. So many other people kept making the sound then Mr Yeo said "You all keep doing that then she has no chance to do! Can you all let her have a chance?" haha! Then he ask me to go louder, until the whole body shaking then he demonstrate, haha! Obviously I didn't do that. Then later he said "Can hold longer?" Actually that's telling me to hold longer but I shook my head, haha, then he said can. Then when I played on the A flat on the instrument later it was louder than before! So I should do the hissing thing before I play next time, haha. And when I played, Kevin jumped??? As if I suddenly played so loudly. And I started to feel cold just when Kevin said "I starting to feel cold already."
So we continued practicing Novena. Then at the end of practice, they asked who doesn't have a pencil. Then we raised our hand and they gave us one. So good. Then when Liang Rong gave Darryl a pencil, I was going to stand up to take one then Darryl gave me that one. So nice right? :) Then Liang Rong wanted to give Darryl another one but couldn't get it out of the box. Then when he did, I think the lead broke then the guys there started laughing and I didn't know what happened. I think it broke after he took it out, not sure. Then Liang Rong didn't know what happened and asked "Huh? What? What?" Then Darryl just said never mind and kept that pencil. That broken one should have been mine...Darryl is so kind. He got a broken one but didn't ask for a change but I think if I got the broken one, he would ask Liang Rong for another one. Mr Yeo said we should bring back our instruments or else when we come back the Clarinets will go to him and say the cork drop out, the Trumpets will go to him and say the valves stuck...bla bla bla. And Trombones would probably have the least problem (yay) but we also have a valve so it might be stuck. (I was thinking since when did Trombones have valves??)(And when he said the Clarinets will go to him and say the cork drop out, they started laughing. Don't know if they are thinking the actual thing or another word) Then I asked Darryl the Trombone slide need to put oil or not. Then he thought I said I need to put on my slide and asked "You need to put?" then I said "I asking you." but actually I do need to put oil on the slide. Then he say just put and later he pass me the oil. Then Mr Yeo wrote on the white board "Mr Yeo Band" and asked us "Who plays the instruments? Who makes the sounds? Who needs the correct articulation?" All answered the band. Then he asked what the band needs to be a good band. We started listing things like responsibility...then someone said "punctuality" and don't know it's same person or who said conductor also then everyone went "Oh..." because the conductor was late, haha. Then went on listing and Darryl said commitment(one of our 4 core values), then someone else said "Integrity...respect" then everyone laughed because those 2 together with responsibility are the other core values, haha! Then Mr Yeo stopped after a lot of things were listed (mostly under "Band") and said that commitment means punctuality, responsibility...(and said everything on the list except the first 3). So actually he only needed to write one word instead of the whole list, haha. And Darryl only needed to say that one word to mean all the other words they said, haha.
Then after we were dismissed I kept my instrument and while waiting for Darryl (because the Sec 3s and Band Committee stayed inside) I decided to loan my instrument although it's very heavy. Jaslyn loaned hers too. Then Darryl came and passed me the oil. Finally I get to oil my instrument! :D At least I didn't have to wait so long like the last time. Then when I gave it to Yi Hui she asked me to keep inside my section cupboard but when I went in, the percussion had already kept their instruments so Rebekah said she'll keep it in her cupboard first... I hope it's in there so it doesn't get lost. I found out that oil was given to Darryl by Yi Hui so it belongs to our section now. Then we went home with our instruments. 3rd time loaning my Trombone :D I thought I'd never loan it again... Today is the last practice before the exam break :(
And just when I started blogging this, a window popped up on my screen "LR says:hey" then when I opened it, 10 people were in the conversation! 11 plus me I think. I think it was Cai Yan added people to the conversation, asked us to go for some Soka Centre performance which has Band performance. Then Assiddiq (Trumpet) asked who Trb Jr was. That's me. My display name is Trb Jr - Trombone Junior. I thought it'd be obvious. Well that means that he doesn't have Kevin's msn. Because Samuel was in the conversation too and only lower Sec are considered juniors. And today was the last practice before the exam break from CCA starts. 1 month of no practice :( I'll miss the trombones and my seniors...Mr Yeo said when the break is over, it'll probably be end of October and by then the school should be done. Then we'll have a new music room big enough for the whole band to practice in! Yay! :D And we'll practice in the auditorium too since we'll be performing in the auditorium. And we are probably the first aesthetics CCA to use it for a performance! Yay! Bye!
